I got Jerry Jones on the phone, he's willing to trade Tony Romo and the Coach for a ham sandwich and a face lift.  Any taker?

Good Thursday Morning GB10, time to put month-end close behind me so I can focus on my fantasy team Foot in mouth

Well the Thunder have done what I thought they would winning their Wester Conference Finals series vs the Spurs in 6 games...now we wait to see if they face the "mature" Celtics or what I think most fans are rooting for "The Dream Team" Heat.  I didn't tune in to see any of the Devils series extending win over the Kings, but the way LA has played "Road Warriors" maybe it's fitting that they finalize their quest for the cup on the road.

Like I said at the beginning of the week, Frank has a very dangerous group of hitters, but his SPs are mediocre at best.  Drew Smyly and Brad Lincoln in two starts have combined for exactly 0 (zero) points and Ryan Vogelsong scored 22.5 while I have gotten a combined 53 points from Cliff Lee, Madison Bumgarner, and Ricky Romero.  Now Frank has 3 hitters off today while every single one of my hitters are scheduled to play...combine that with a start from Jake Peavy and I'm anticipating having at least a 40 point lead by end of day.

Well since you asked, let's look at each one of your SPs individually...don't want to hust let the YTD points SP rankings just speak for themselves.

Tie #1 R.A. Dickey - 10/11 QS with an 8-1 record, 2.688 ERA, 1.0588 WHIP, 70/17 K/Walk rate (exceptional rate) and averages over 21 points/start...nothing not to like with what we see here, but only question is with him now moving from pitching after Johan Santana to before, will that impact the effectiveness of his knuclleball...nitpicking for sure, but will be interesting to watch

#9 Jered Weaver - 8/11 QS with a 6-1 record, 2.609 ERA, .9275 WHIP, 57/15 K/Walk rate (stellar rate) and averages over 19 points/start...assuming the Angels continue to play well and he returns to the same level he was in the next week or two, he should be a Top 5-10 SP the rest of the season

#13 Jason Vargas - 8/13 QS with a 7-4 record, 3.643 ERA, 1.0952 WHIP, 58/22 K/Walk rate (solid rate) and averages just over 15.5 points/start...decent SP, but I think his ranking is artifically inflated due to the two extra starts compared to most other SPs

#16 CC Sabathia -  7/11 QS with a 7-2 record, 3.677 ERA, 1.2383 WHIP, 74/23 K/Walk rate (exceptional rate) and averages just over 18 points/start...imo your 2nd best SP and certainly proven to be among the elite

#21 Johnny Cueto - 9/12 QS with a 6-3 record, 2.631 ERA, 1.2203 WHIP, 52/19 K/Walk rate (solid rate) and averages almost 16points/start...I would put him above Vargas and below Dickey right now

I won't bother looking at your SPs not in the Top 30 (Jeff Samardzija and Felix Doubront best as an RP and Tommy Hanson too unpredictable right now) since they are likely to be added/dropped based on matchups and other needs your team has, but what I see here is more than capable of rolling off 3-4 straight wins once Weaver returns from injury.

Now for comparisons sake only, let's take a look at the SPs on my roster:

#5 Jake Peavy - 9/11 QS with a 6-1 record, 3.052 ERA, .9261 WHIP, 68/15 K/Walk rate (stellar rate) and nearly 21points/start...if he stays healthy (always been the knock on him), he could easily be a Top 5-10 SP

#6 Brandon Morrow - 8/12 QS with a 7-3 record, 2.897 ERA, .9914 WHIP, 67/24 K/Walk rate (solid rate) and nearly 18.5 points/start...some will question the quality of the Blue Jays team (especially playing in the brutal AL East), but he has shown the ability to keep just about every team except for Rangers and Rays in check

#7 Chris Capuano - 8/12 QS with a 8-2 record, 2.823 ERA, 1.0773 WHIP, 66/26 K/Walk rate (solid rate) and nearly 18.5 points/start...some will question his likelihood of keeping up this pace given that he is 33 and really never distinguished himself before, but I think the NL West division is down and the Dodgers are must improved over recent years

#18 Brandon Beachy - 8/11 QS with only a 5-4 record, 1.866 ERA, .9539 WHIP, 57/23 K/Walk rate (solid rate) and over 18.0 points/start...if not for the poor record due to the Braves slow start, he would easily be a Top 10 SP right now

#20 Madison Bumgarner - 7/12 QS with a 7-4 record, 3.263 ERA, 1.1500 WHIP, 62/18 K/Walk rate (exceptional rate) and 16.5 points/start...clearly a proven performer who also is in the weakened NL West

#21 Ricky Romero - 7/12 QS with a 7-1 record, 4.021 ERA, 1.2638 WHIP, 60/39 K/Walk rate (mediocre rate) and over a 16.0 points/start...clearly a proven performer who is benefitting from very few losses which to me reinforces my belief that the Blue Jays are a solid team that should stay very competitive even in the brutal AL East

Outside Top 30 Cliff Lee - 7/9 QS with an 0-3 record, 2.923 ERA, 1.0052 WHIP, 66/11 K/Walk rate (exceptional rate) and nearly 16.5 points/start...clearly a proven stud and once he starts getting some run support which in turn will lead to more wins, he will easily leapfrof the drek ahead of him

Coming of DL Roy Oswalt - only time will tell if he still can be the elite SP he has been in the past, but playing for the offensive juggarnaut Rangers, he definitely has some room for error.

My RPs are Fernando Rodney, Rafael Soriano, and Alfredo Aceves so it's not like I'm having to sacrifice at my other pitching positions to stockpile this large stable of talent.

My only concern is do I trade one or two of these very fine pitchers for an upgrade at 3B until Evan Longoria returns and then likely as my Utility player long term?  One thing is for sure, I'm certainly not trading any of the proven performers for a player that may not be able to hold onto a starting spot in my lineup which is as follows:

C: Brian McCann / Buster Posey
1B: Joey Votto
2B: Robinson Cano
SS: Starlin Castro
3B: Evan Longoria
OF: Melky Cabrera
OF: Hunter Pence
OF: Jay Bruce
OF/U: Alejandro De Aza

If you can't give up a player clearly better than those last two players listed, you won't likely have any success trying to convince me to trade you one of my pitchers...simple as that.

The President's Club is falling further behind.  106-191, doesn't look good for us because this team has scored the most points this week. What a bummer.  The good news is the other two teams are losing as well so it looks like we will break even.

None of you sorry bastards are funny!  Don't quit your day jobs peddling PVC or swindling old folks outta their SSI!

And Fruitipebbles, if anything you are without a shadow of a doubt...the most comical fantasy participant in all of the GB10.   I can't wait til I square off against you for the championship game.  Now, that's hilarious!  Putting an end to your imbecilic posts where you nasalize of how great you are, you egocentric drone!

Well I will be the first to admit how lucky I was to win this week's bet with Dave. I haven't calculated the odds of Hanrahan and Chapman both giving up a run a piece, but those points thanks to Hanrahan's win look pretty sweet!

Outfielders are a dime a dozen. If you want a historically great one on spec, make me a cheap offer on Ellsbury. No waiver wire crap will be considered. I don't need him and the price will of course go up as he nears complete health, starts playing, and then producing.

I'm going to the game tonight. The opposing team sucks out loud and I fully expect another save from the Hammer unless we give Kansas City a royal Undecided @SS kicking.
