Just watched "SoundFX" with John Harbaugh miked up . . .  3 1/2 minutes of him crying to the refs, making snide remarks to other coaches and his players about how the refs ignore him, etc, etc, cry, cry, cry.   Cry   But you're right, Steelers fans cry about refs too much!  Surprised
As opposed to watching Tomlin stare stone-faced out at his 2nd divisional loss to the Ravens, because he can't even think of a thing to say even with the refs helping out the Steelers.  I respect that...who would he complain to.  Harbs at least has some "righteous" indignation. Surprised

Flacco will never win an AFC championship game - pending

Steelers fans and their "Flacco will never" statements make me smile.  It's like each time you say it, it happens.

Once it happens, the list will continue:

Flacco will never win a Superbowl- pending

Flacco will never win two Superbowls like Ben - pending

Flacco will never win a Superbowl with an amazing pass and catch such as Ben to Holmes - pending

And the list will go on.

Totally!  Like the time we said "Flacco will never beat Ben", and *poof* it happened...

...four years later. Undecided

Objection, your honor.  The defense is leading the witness.  The statement of "Flacco will never beat Ben" wasn't made until the 2010 season was already in progress

I mean, you can't be wrong all the time.

Ukranian officials became suspicious when Flacco was launching 80 yard bombs over the border into Moldova.  The suspicion was confirmed as Lee Evans kept dropping the passes only to have the footballs bust when they hit the ground revealing the hidden heroin inside.  There is an unconfirmed report that Limas Sweed was also seen dropping passes.

If the Ukraine-Moldova border is anything like the Pittsburgh-Cleveland border, his shipments will never get interceptedTongue out

That large lump of nothing important land mass between the two cities (Beaver PA, really???).  I didn't say it was a quick trip, but if trends continue Flacco isn't getting anything intercepted through thereTongue out

No he will just get tomahawked by Woodley and Harrison and the fumble cashed in for 6 at the Endzone Bank.

Did that happen last year, or is this the usual case of going back far enough to have a point while ignoring the most recent games?

Hence the word "trends", b/c last season it was Flacco throwing for 6 consistently, while Woodley and Harrison were as big of factor as in previous years.  Seems the big bodies of Bryant McKinnie and Oher matched up a lot better.

the truth is no one will replace Suggs production and the Ravens will be fighting for that 6th seed at best.

this will be the only trend to come out of this year.

Seems the big bodies of Bryant McKinnie and Oher matched up a lot better.

Game 1:

LaMarr Woodley - 1 sack
James Harrison - 0 sacks (in his first game after back surgery -- he said his back didn't really heal until Week 9, after he took time off to recover from the fractured orbital bone)

Game 2:

Lamarr Woodley - DNP
James Harrison - 3 sacks

I agree that McKinnie/Oher were a better combo than Oher at LT and Yanda at RT, but assuming Harrison and Woodley are healthy this time around, I expect their numbers to improve.

gidion -- No need to give these Ravens posters a layup like that...many of us said the same thing right before that humbling Week 1 game last season.  I agree that those factors should all work in our favor, but both teams will be contenders, as always, and a lot can happen between now and our first matchup.  Most notably, Ray Lewis could break his hip during his one-man Soul Train session.

You can't reason with Gidion.  He'll always say how the Ravens suck or take the smallest issue and make it a crippling one.  I can see it now this seaosn:

Gidion: "who cares of Baltimore won game one, that was two weeks ago.  Ray Lewis is 2 weeks older and sucks even worse now.  That bum QB only threw for 3 TDs last time and almost had a pick.  Pittsburgh is about to own the Ravens today".

Suggs missing the season is small. It is always easy to overcome losing your best defensive player for the season. Go check the Steelers defense in 09 when Troy was hurt for the year.

Pittsburgh's defense centered around Troy back in 09.  Baltimore's defense doesn't center around Suggs since the team has stars at every level.  You're also conveniently ignoring the impact a healthy Ngata will have along with a more experienced secondary.

Suggs will be missed, but his loss alone won't cripple the defense like you apparently think it will.

Are you saying that the Steelers didn't have stars "at every level" in 2009?  They didn't have James Harrison?  Or Casey Hampton

Come on #3, that isn't a good argument.  The Steelers still had a ridiculously talented defense in 2009, but Troy being out made a big difference.  I agree with your first sentence, the defense did revolve around Troy and still does to a large extent, but the second sentence is a fallicy.

A player like Suggs being lost will have a far bigger impact than you might think.  I liken it to what the Steelers went through last year.  With Harrison and Woodley both missing significant time, the defensive dropoff from a yards and points standpoint wasn't that great, but they just didn't create as many big plays.  Suggs is a playmaker.  Maybe the biggest playmaker on the entire defense.

The pressure he applies to QBs is as good a reason as any for Ed Reed getting balls thrown right to him! Yell

The sacks and fumbles he generates are huge momentum shifters for the Ravens.

If the Ravens can't replicate that production with him on the sidelines, they are sure to struggle, even if the yards and points stats stay the same.
