I love how Irish just keeps trying to convince people that Tannehill is not good, but people who study and work at this for months/yrs think he will b a bona fide starter for many yrs.  I will take the comments from players who played and other experts that say Weeden needs a lot of work on running a conventional offense, reading defenses(brought up Iowa St game where they zone blitzed him to death and he had no clue)....should b good vs Pitt and Balt.

Woke up today excited about the fact we now have a QB that can make all the throws! the Weeden pick surprised me, but Im liking it more and more.

Im also enjoying reading all the "former" Browns fans swear off their team with "fire everybody" and "im not their fan anymore" just cause they didnt select the player they liked most.

Get over it! theres more than one way to improve this team!!!!

Whats your thought on the 2nd round Pick?
WR, RT, or Something else

im saying RT in the 2nd

WR in the 3rd

I have to think he would have been there at 37 meaning we wiffed at the ability to score some WR or OL talent at 22.
Who did we wiff on?

The Browns LOVE Pinkston at G, LOVE him...

So, who did we miss on? Who would have been the pick at #22 that would make everyone happier than Weeden?

Weeden . . . I hope he's as good as all of the self-annointed experts here think he is.  However, IMO, picking him at 22 was a reach.  I have to think he would have been there at 37 meaning we wiffed at the ability to score some WR or OL talent at 22.
You could be right and we'll never know but the Chiefs might have jumped ahead of you in the 2nd round.

I didn't say Weeden won't need work. I am saying that I think he is a much better QB than Tannehill based on what I have seen on tape.

If McCoy's arm is not going to get the deal done and Holmgren has enough to determine that...Then I am happy they didn't wait another year of bad offense to make an upgrade to the position.

I admit to being an amateur evaluator all the time, but I sure as hell have an opinion and I sure as hell have the right to express that opinion on an open forum message board.

I have said all along that what ever H&H do, I have faith in their evaluation and will get on board. That is exactly what I am doing with Weeden. You aren't getting anything new from me...I am who I am.

Don't sweat the haters Irish....I'm not even reading the negative posters.  Nothing can get this smile off my face today!  Can't wait to see what happens this evening...

I believe yesterday was the most successful day the Browns have had since their return in 99....

Holmgren and Heckert are on fire!

Another reason I LOVE the Richardson pick at #4...He will help with these blitz packages the way he did at Alabama. Best RB in the draft doing this.

OSU, didn't have a Trent Richardson on their team...

How can u say whatever Heckert and Holmgren do ur in favor of it when 2 yrs ago he just drafted Mccoy?  Obvioulsy, if they get rid of him or hes a backup how does he have credibility when that was his hand picked guy?

So lets draft a RB top 5 cause he can pick up a blitz.  U can find a FB late in the rounds or via FA to do that.  Also, taking a pounding throughout the yrs w head on collisions w blitzing LB's isnt the safest way to make a career.

Pretty easy stopper, if his shoulder is the issue, it would be no one's "fault" that they took a 3rd round flyer that it would eventually heal, but didn't. If you have a shot at a franchise guy in the 3rd, you take it...

QBs are a crap shoot like no other position, if it wasn't, every team would have a succesful one that plays for ten years.

Wow, density is not something you are lacking in....

Richardson also just happens to be one of the best pure runners to come out in 5 years AND has some of the best pas catching ability of any RB to come out in as many years as well. The whole package is why he is a top 5 pick...not a single one. There are dozens of RBs in this draft and every other one that have one attribute, but very few that have all of them.

Blocking an edge guy is much different than standing in the trenches play after play busting heads with a DT...

for one, those LBs are only about 5lbs heavier than Richardson...another, all you have to do is redirect that rusher, you don't lower your head and try to knock them off their feet...

Top Dawg whats so funny?  I have seen plenty of 3rd round picks become stars in the NFL.  If Holmgren is such a guru, McCoy should have been more successful.  Now we hear about the shoulder injury....lol

I understand he has ability, but u keep saying he can pick up a blitz like no other RB in the league can do that skill.  Hillis was 240lbs and blocked just fine and ran for over 1100 yds w dble digit TD's lets c if Trent has that kind of yr.  I'll say it again, the Browns did not get better but just switched personnel....Hillis=Richardson and McCoy=Weeden.

Absolutely he is a better QB than Tannenhill.  He is right up there with luck and RG3 imo, but just 8 years older.  I thought we could have waited to select him, but given the surprising abundance of talent at this point in the draft (Jonathan martin, Cordy Glenn, Stephen Hill, Jenkins, etc...) we got lucky and it worked out.  No one can convince the trade up from 4 to 3 was smart, especially because I think Kalil was the better pick anyways.   I personally would be happy if we could somehow get back in the 2nd round and grab another one of the starting caliber players avaiable.  Is that a realistic possibility given we already coughed up some of our trade ammo with the richardson deal?

So Weeden is so much better than Tannehill, but u could have waited until the 2nd round to select him?  That makes no sense at all while Tannehill was projected top 10.

Says YOU that they could have waited until the 2nd to draft him...No one will ever know if he would have been available in the 2nd round. What we do know at this point is that they didn't need to reach for one of these WRs or RTs at #22, because they are ALL still on the board going into the 2nd round. Makes my faith in Heckert more believable than your assessment of where someone whould be drafted.

Tennehill was projected top ten to the Dolphins...He was also NOT projected top ten by the Browns front office, or he would have been picked at #4. We know that for fact.

All those saying he would go top ten to the Dolphins also said, if the Dolphins don't take him, he could easily slide to the 2nd round because there was no other lock team to stop the slide...this is also something we will never know because the Dolphins owner told them to get a player that the fanbase will buy tickets to see. He has publicly made comments eluding to this.

Doesn't make him a top ten talent.
