So then do the Browns take the #6 and #39 for the #4 and take Tannehill at 6?
I believe this is a real possibility if they make the small trade down...

You two have QB tunnel visionSealed

This kid is NOT a top ten player...You start making decisions based on need and you start down a bad path...

Lucky for me Heckert does not do this, and despite what you think, there isn't another QB that is better than McCoy available. This means that a player that will actually help this team will be drafted in the top ten.

MY hope is that Vikings take Claiborne, then the Rams trade up for Matt Kalil...

Then with any hope, the Dolphins actually think they need to trade up to 5 for Tannehill and the Browns will be sitting there at #6 with the choice of Blackmon or Richardson.Money mouth

I really think we gotta go Richardson guys. im pretty big on takin Blackmon also but i think Trent will bring an attitude that will change the Browns to winning force in the division. We gotta get tough and rich is a beast.  If we had any kind of offense at all i would be all for trading down a little and taking Claiborne and adding to our defense but i really dont think thats an option. A 3rd round pick is a joke to me. our offense is full of them and i just cant take it anymore..  If we take tannehill even with the 22nd pick ill punch whoever is sittin next to me right in the dick. He wont help us at all. A rookie QB with no running back no recievers and half a line. Hahah well be lucky to 6 points a game.  Ill stick with Colt he hasnt been given a real shot. Im gettin Excited Its gonna be Hard from H&H to screw this up.  Lets get Trent at 4 and go from there... GO BROWNS

TOPDAWG I know u want a QB but tannehill is not an option. Please get on board here buddy. if we waste a high pick on him were in big trouble and not goin anywhere fast. Sometimes i think there no way they r that stupid, but these are the same ah oles that actually thought Jake Delhomme was actually gonna help us. Its just not an option. we have to go Richardson or Blackmon and a receiver at 22. I would even love it if they traded up from 22 a little bit to grab Floyd. i would definetly give up a 3rd for that if we already took richardson. and by the sounds of it, it might only take a 4th or fifth to move up. if all we would get from the Rams to move up 2 spots is a 3rd then it should only take a fifth.  haha sorry i type like sh it.  i wish i could really go to a Dawg Pound Lounge and just talk about this s hit. I hate typin.

Thought I would share this . . .

Irish started his 2012 Mock Draft today.  This year, Irish is not going to pick for the Browns, rather is he going to act as the commish.  The GM picking for the Browns is none other than

(Five bucks says he pulls a Ditka and trades the entire draft to go get RGIII from the Skins.  Maybe he will throw in next years draft as well just to ensure he doesn't get one upped.)  Tongue out

Why do you think I am on him so hard Lym?

It actually doesn't start until April 9th. I get started a week early to get every one on the same page and make sure every one understands changes and what not from the year before.

I have no doubt TD will do a great job taking over the drafting duties, even if we have fundamental differences in philosophy...

He better!!Tongue out

I certainly hope TD spends these next 11 days studying film of Ryan Tannehill, so that he can make the EDUCATED decision come draft dayWink

Also, pay attention to tomorrows 2nd Alabama pro day, when Trent Richardson is expected to do drills finally on that surgically repaired knee..He originally was supposed to go on the original Alabama Pro day after skipping the combine, then it got moved back to tomorrow, anxious to see if the extra week helped him get to form.

Seriously guys....All I've ever said about Tannehill is that IF HOLMGREN LIKES HIM, I'd get behind it....And I think Holmy likes him.   Maybe it's just smoke...I don't know.  How many times do I have to say that if I were calling the shots, I'd take Trent Richardson....I wouldn't know Ryan Tannehill if he sat right next to me....No way would I take him at #4, and you can pretty much forget the trade down scenario....Unless I get a crazy offer, I'm not looking to move anywhere from the #4 spot.....this is fun!

go ahead and pencil in the big RB from Bama Irish, and don't listen to Lym.... He hates that I was right about the Browns going all in for RG3...lol!  and i think he's still a little sad that the Akili Smith comparison never really took flight.

I totally forgot about the knee surgery. Completely healthy I'd have a hard time taking a RB at #4. Now that Hardesty Richardson has a knee issue I'd never touch him - no way!

PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Redskins coachMike Shanahan explained Wednesday that he knew he had to blow away the Rams with his offer for the No. 2 pick, especially considering the Browns had the No. 4 and No. 22 picks this year.

"That's why we made the offer we made and hoped it would be good enough," said Shanahan at the NFC coaches breakfast. "When they say 'give us your best shot,' you've got to give them your best shot."

The Redskins swapped their No. 6 for the Rams' No. 2, then gave up their second-round pick this year (39 overall) and first-round choices in 2013 and 2014.

"You have to make a decision on what it's going to take to get that pick, especially when you're competing with a few football teams," he said.

He admitted he was sweating out the Rams' decision and had no idea what the Browns were offering.

"Yeah, if affects your future," he said. "Everybody in the organization [was excited]. They understand how important it is to get that guy. They're hard to find. And it usually gives you a chance to get to the big game."

Shanahan confirmed there was no give and take on the bidding with the Browns, that it was a one-shot deal.

"You've got a game plan and you get somebody that will be your franchise quarterback for years to come and it doesn't happen very often," he said. "I was really pleased we got that pick -- to take one of these two guys."

Shanahan consistently referred to landing either Robert Griffin III or Stanford's Andrew Luck, who's expected to go No. 1 to the Colts. But the Colts haven't publicly committed to him yet.

Shanahan, who's known Browns President Mike Holmgren for many years, dating back to their days together in San Francisco, disagreed that relationships between the Rams and Redskins closed the deal.

"You always want relationships with everyone in the league. I have great relationships with Mike and Pat, but at the end of the day, teams are going to go with the best offer. They may like me, but they're not going to give up draft choices for me, I can promise you that."

Shanahan said he still wanted Peyton Manning after making the blockbuster deal.

"Having Peyton Manning and being able to bring up one of these other two quarterbacks would've been a perfect scenario," he said. "I don't think Peyton was very worried about [a rookie behind him]. He's got a lot of confidence in himself."

Receivers, too: Shanahan said he also aggressively pursued free-agent receivers Pierre Garconand Josh Morgan, whom the Browns also tried to sign. Both signed large contracts with the Redskins.

"I think we made the best offer early," he said. "We had a game plan that we were going to get these two guys, and you have to overpay for them a little bit. These were two guys we wanted from day one."

He said it didn't hurt in the recruiting process that the Redskins had landed one of the top two quarterbacks in the draft.

"They understand when you move up to the second pick you're going to find yourself a quarterback in Robert or Andrew," he said. "Those guys are excited. They know what it means to them to have one of those types of quarterbacks."

Browns backer: Commissioner Roger Goodell again said the Browns did not warrant any disciplinary action for allowing Colt McCoy to return to the field after suffering a concussion during the Pittsburgh game. Goodell cited the multiple injuries that occurred on the play as contributing to the problem, and ultimately leading to a new and improved sideline policy.

"The big changes we made since that occurred -- we actually reviewed that during this week -- is the trouble with when you have multiple injuries on one play," Goodell said. "In fact, on Colt McCoy's play, we did have multiple injuries.

"You have medical personnel who are on the sideline trying to monitor what is going on on the field in several different places. By putting the spotter upstairs and having video available, we can assist the medical professionals in identifying when an impact occurs that should be evaluated so the doctor can make the evaluation.

"When doctors have had the opportunity to make that evaluation, they make good judgments. We have complete confidence in that."

Bounty issues: Goodell said he expects to speak with the NFLPA before the end of the week to schedule additional hearings and discussions about player punishment on bounty-rule violations. Browns linebacker Scott Fujita, a former member of the Saints, is one of the players being mentioned.

Two hours to dinner. Time enough for Fresh Brownies to over-analyze what Mike Holmgren said on Cleveland Browns Daily:
MH: “We believe in what we’re doing and we are going to stick to the plan.”
FB: The plan was for RG3 to be the No. 1 QB. Now it isn’t. Vic Carucci asked Holmgren about a response to fans who are bummed about getting outbid by Washington.
MH: “I don’t think I can manage the letdown. I mean, everyone’s going to react to things the way they react.”
FB: I don’t know if the CIA’s regional collective brain scanner works better than ours, but we sense a real mixed reaction about not getting Robert Griffin. A large group of people was going to be happy if Holmgren spent the: “,,, moon for one hot prospect. A large group faults Holmgren for failing to execute the trade.
If Griffin turns into Michael Jordan, everybody will be unhappy. If the Browns take steps to 9-7, 11-5, 12-4 and a Super Bowl, not getting RG3 will look like a lucky break ... unless Washington beats Cleveland in that Super Bowl.
MH: “... and the draft in particular ... I think our fans will be very, very excited about who we pick.”
FB: If the pick is Morris Claiborne, it’s more a matter of tolerating and understanding the selection of a cornerback than it is excitement, isn’t it? If the pick is, say, Ryan Tannehill via a trade-down, what fan goes out of his gourd over landing the No. 3 quarterback in a draft?
Something someone told me at the Super Bowl has stuck with me. Based on that something, Trent Richardson has stuck in my mind as the man of the hour if it wasn’t going to be Griffin. The best running back in the draft would stir some general excitement.
The best wide receiver in the draft, Justin Blackmon, would stir a general buzz, some of it wildly positive, some of it from the school of “never draft a wideout that high.”
If I were Holmgren and knew Richardson would be the man, I’d be sure to say after the pick ... “You folks know Walter Payton was a No. 4 pick, right?”
MH: “We will pick excellent players, and we have a lot of firepower up early this year.”
FB: We’ve been mentioning for weeks now the Browns are parked at 4, 22 and 37.
It’s time to start thinking about what the next picks, 67, 100 and 118 might bring.
It could be nothing, but some of the players who have come from that range — and Tom Heckert’s reputation for having a clue — inspire some hope.
Just to throw some names out there ...
Pro Bowlers Lance Briggs and Jason Witten came from the 68th and 69th spots in the 2004 draft.
The Panthers found a No. 1 wideout, Steve Smith, at No. 74 in the 2011 draft.
All-Pro guard Jahri Evans was a No. 108 pick in 2006.
Jared Allen, one of the current sack masters, was a No. 126 pick in ‘04. Elvis Dumervil likewise was a No. 126 pick, in 2006. Aaron Schobel, who has been a great edge rusher for Buffalo for a long time, was a No. 67 pick in 2002.
Matt Schaub, perhaps the most promising third-round QB since Joe Montana, was a No. 90 pick in 2004. Kyle Orton was a No. 106 pick in 2005 ... you wouldn’t mind bringing up a backup quarterback with his wherewithal.
MH: “No one can real tell for sure who the next exciting player is going to be. I mean, you anticipate, you think about it, you work at it, and you hope nobody gets hurt ... and you might have the next exciting player. A number of things happen that are out of your control. You don’t take your ball and go home. You go to your next idea, your next plan.”
FB: You go to ... Trent Richardson?
MH: “I talked to Colt McCoy not long ago, and my only thing is ... as far as the patience goes ... he could be judged off last year’s performance, but don’t judge him too harshly. He got knocked around a little bit. A lot. His attitude was great. He’s actually entering into really his second full season of play. So he has a lot of years ahead of him. And we still all believe in what he can do. Now I also said to him, and I’ve said it to other people, we’re always going to make the quarterback position competitive. We’re always going to be looking at other quarterbacks every year whether in the draft or free agency because of the importance of the position.”
FB: We won’t be one bit surprised if Holmgren and Company draft a quarterback they think might be more capable than McCoy over time. He may even be older than McCoy.
MH: (Asked about whether he called McCoy to reassure him.) “I just wanted to remind him there’s been a lot spoken and a lot written ... all he can really control is what he does. All he can really do is become the best player he can be and try and block out all the rest of the stuff. That’s easier said than done because we’re all human, but that was my message to him.
“He responded like I expected him to respond. Like he has responded to me and I think to Pat and to anybody that talks to him in the building since he got to Cleveland. He is a very capable young man and he cares. He works harder than any 10 people. I mean, he’s what you want. He responded. He understood. And that’s what his goals are as well.”
FB: We really don’t know what MH really thinks of No. 12. Do we?

btw Irish,  are you really going to make me go into this draft representing the Cleveland Browns with this ridiculous avatar?   Have mercy bro... it's completely up to you....I know a bet is a bet..... but i fear we (the Browns) will be mocked during our mock.....i think you know what I mean.....

My arguement would be weak at best....I know close doesn't matter in gambling.  Even though much of my babbling was validated with Holmgren's admission that RG3 was the plan..I'd hate to have to bring that up...ooops I just did....Aaaaaannnnyyyyway,  I was just thinking that perhaps a nice non-player specific Browns avatar might be better....I mean, don't us Browns fans take enough chit as it is?   Do I really have to let Lucy hold the ball on the FG attempt for me???

just food for thought....i really don't care what anybody thinks.  It's just that....well you know.  It's like the little brother thing.  I can pick on McCoy and the Browns, but Raider fan better shut his pie hole!!!   know what i mean dog?

I believe Weeden would be a better third round pick than McCoy.  I would even venture to say I'd take him late in the second.  All I know is that there is no way I am comfortable with the QB situation consisting entirely of Colt McCoy.  I'll give Colt the benefit as of now, but I will not extend that same courtesy to Seneca Wallace.  If you keep and run with Colt, they should invest in Weeden.  If Colt beats him out, fine.  If not then Weeden could be an upgrade IMO.  He might not get the nod in 2012, but I have a feeling mid-way through the season into 2013 he will turn quite a few heads.  Then when the verdict is completely ruled in or against Colt''s favor, Weedon starts 2013 and Browns pray for a guy like Barkley.  Both seasons you have two capable QBs, in case of injury, while they both progress.
