"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble."
Psalm 46:1
The cross I wear around my neck is not there for show, nor is it the object of my worship. I would not be lost without it, though I do like it. I do not believe it has some mystical power, nor does it protect me. The cross that I wear reminds me of the great love that God has for me. Christ's gift of eternal life is made real to me each time I look down at the cross or feel it lightly resting on my chest. In difficult times, I look at the cross and feel warmth and comfort. From its gentle reminder I draw strength when I am weary, refuge when I need to rest. Whether I wear my cross or not, God is with me, but sometimes it is nice to have a small reminder.
I run to You when I need rest, Lord. You take me in Your arms and protect me from the pressures of the day. In every time of trial, You are the source of my help. Thank You. Amen.
"Finally, brothers, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored."
2 Thessalonians 3:1
Prayer is vital for the success of the preaching of the word of God. It creates an atmosphere favorable for the word to accomplish its purpose. God's word will not return void but will accomplish that purpose for which it was sent out. We participate in that process by praying for those with whom we will share the gospel and connecting with people whose paths we cross in a positive way so that sharing our good news can be done with people who see God's love in us.
Dear Lord God, help us to prepare the ground with our prayers so Your word will take root in people's hearts and produce a great harvest. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Please remember that the National Day of Prayer is May 3. Make plans to fit prayer time into that day as well as praying up to that day.
Be God's!
