"Against You and You only have I sinned and done evil in Your sight: that You might be justified when You speak, and be clear when You judge."
Psalm 51:4
Sin is not merely doing what is wrong, but doing what is wrong in the sight of the Lord. God has offered us a direction for living full and happy lives. Our being disobedient to those instructions doesn't hurt God, it hurts us. God is saddened by our refusal to be obedient, but He is always willing to hear our petition for forgiveness, and He will show us His mercy. When we sin, it is a private matter between God and ourselves. Take your sins before God, repent of each one, and glory in the grace of God, by which we receive full pardon of all we do wrong. If you have wronged another, offer to make it right whenever possible for repentance means to turn away from our sin and toward God's direction for our lives.
Forgive me, Lord. Make a new creation out of this old soul. Convict me of my wrongs for my learning, and change my heart, O God. Prepare me for the Kingdom to come each day of my life. Amen.
