How ya doing,777. No, you're not a Yankees fan, you're a Rays fan. LOL
Thanks for the compliment on the Red Sox, and I read your feedback.
Ortiz should be fully healthy from the start this year, he had the wrist injury and minor surgery and a full winter of rest for it to be good to go.
Yes, Drew has some injury problems at times, but he had a great stretch in the second half & still has a very potent bat. When he's out, then native son ( and ex- RAY ) Rocco Baldelli will have his chance to shine. I think the Sox might have to go with Youk at 3B some this year, but Lars Anderson has a lot of power and could grab 1B & run with it.
I not only think Lowrie will beat out Lugo, I think that he could possibly be the ROY in the AL!!!!
Now it's your turn to do a Rays preview, & count on me to comment or critique!
As always, Crew, the scenery is spectacular
I may have to re evaluate my stance on Bud Selig. I've been hearing that when he was just acting commish back in the mid 90's that he wanted to get steroid testing put in the collective bargaining agreement but the players union was against it.
Redwing #19,
Agreed he tried to get the testing in but in reality all the Steroids had already been born. I am sure we can trace Steroids in many different forms back sooner as who truly knows what the Dominican Republic players are on, heck we truly dont even know how old they are or what there true names are in some instances. As for the MLB Steroids birth Imo it started in Oakland with Conseco and Big Mac running also through Giambi. Bonds and Sosa got on the juice too but that was more on the outside instead of an organization.
Baseball was in a bad position after the lock outs and all of the grumbling with the Union, it had become boring, the games were too long and truly who wanted to see a 1-0 game after 3 hrs of boredom. A No hitter yes has some drama but not a lack of offense. When guys like Big Mac, Bonds, Sosa started hitting 50 a yr and the HR Derby at the Allstar Game become a launching pad for Balls flying in to outer space, the Steroid rush was on. It then became like Homosexuals and lesbians in the military as a dont ask dont tell policy. MLB had became marketable and exciting again and players needed an edge to catch up and maintain and through this process also even Pitchers got on the Juice.
I say let them Juice and Frankly Start up a Steroid Hall of Fame and then we would be having this discussion anymore.

They could pass out sringes as door prizes.

My point was that it might not be far of me to totally blame Bud Selig on this. The players union may have to accept some as well. I was one of those disenfranchised baseball fans after the lock out. Sosa and McGwire didn't bring me back. Yes I watched but when it was over I left. Even the '03 Cubs didn't bring me back. It was the Tigers run in '06 that returned my interest to the game. And seeing the Rays go from perennial door mats to World Series contender was almost as exciting for me. Now if we could just get at least one World Series game played in the afternoon!
Good morning, everyone. The Chicago Blackhawks are starting to get some swagger back on their team lately, as shown last night against the Florida Panthers. Of course, a shutout posted by Cristobal Huet, two goals from Ben Eager, and one goal each from Andrew Ladd and Jonathan Toews wouldn't hurt either.
The Wisconsin Badgers got a solid road win against the Indiana Hoosiers last night. A win against Michigan State in East Lansing would certainly make the Badgers tournament bound.
For me it was the playoff of 2003 when Pedro pushed down Zimmer during the brawl, now that was baseball. Not Roids
Yet again it happens. From 5:00 p.m. est I can keep an AV. Morning comes, a new crew of Admins, and my AV that was O.K. for like 16 hours is suddenly removed. My guess is I will go through another 20 today. That is O.K., work is slow, I have the time.
Happy to see all these enthusiastic sports fans.
Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside.

I hear ya on Selig and In fact I dont Blame him at all, I mean whether we like it or not Steroid's were not tested in MLBaseball nor were they even Banned until just recently. Baseball is a business putting a product on the field for the fans yes and its fine with me, but most of all it is about selling a product to TV as that is where the money is. Simply put it was a phase Baseball went through but to think it was the only Sport is idiotic and even worse if you dont think Steroids arent in ALL competitive sports. Heck I started Steroids my Sophmore year in High School and continued it in College up till my Senior Year of College Football. Of course those were alot lower dose rates and only 8 week cycles but my point is Steroids are in ALL competitive sports.
Celtics tanked last night. Ugly game. I mean really, the Jazz? Record asside, the team has me concerned this year, they are going to really have to kick it in overdrive come playoff time.
good morning everyone TGIF
another good game by the hawks, and they are dong this with sharp and khabi on IR they are really starting to play like they did in december when they went 10-1-1. and those of you that have towes on your fantasy team he just keep getting you points the guy is just awesome.

Yes, I completely understand that sports generate most of thier revenue from TV. And that they have to package their product to appeal to the masses not just their fans. But would you agree that MLB has been slower than most to address the steroid issue? What this boils down to is do you want your sport to be drug free or not. It's just that simple. Personally, I don't care. Just make a decision and move on. And to quote Forrest Gump, "That's all I've got to say about that."
But would you agree that MLB has been slower than most to address the steroid issue? What this boils down to is do you want your sport to be drug free or not. It's just that simple. The funny thing is that the NFL is far from drug free. Even the best players get caught and what is their punishment? 4 games. Shawn Merriman gets busted and nobody even cares to remember because they give him his 4 games and then the media quits talking about it. He did get some karma treatment this year
. Mike Golic admits on the air all of the time that everyone in the NFL in the 80's and early 90's were using, including him. No one cares! No one complains about the steroid use of the NFL in years past. They all get cortisone injections before and during games all of the time. That could be worse for you than taking illegal steroids on a cycle.
Hey sports fans.
Very nice updates in here, just caught up on 5's.
That Celtics loss hurt (in the wallet) but losing KG in the second played a big part. Can't believe they were a "road dog" in that game.
What this boils down to is do you want your sport to be drug free or not.
I have babbled my opinion on this before and am clearly in the minority. My answer is no. These are adults. They get paid a whole lot of money top deliver performance. If they choose to do so, and it makes the game that much more exciting, then so be it. I really don't understand this "shock and horror" that athletes would use HGH or steroids. When it is all said and done, A-roid will have made $500,000,000 from baseball in salary alone. Are you really surprised he would take something to try and get an edge. Do you really believe he is clean now? 500 million folks, comprehend the number, I would have done it too.Keep in mind a 4 game NFL suspension equates to a 40 game suspension in the MLB. 1/4 the season either way, it sounds less severe.
Keep in mind a 4 game NFL suspension equates to a 40 game suspension in the MLB. 1/4 the season either way, it sounds less severe.Very true. My point was really how the media moves on relatively quicky, making it less of a big deal.
Gastra right or wrong I have to agree. This shouldn't be a shock to anyone. When you see the amount of money these athlete's can make by being just a little bit better. How many of them aren't going to try it. And just because they aren't coming up with positive test doesn't meant they aren't doing something new that is undetectable.
