Look Ahead For Week 16:

As the regular season winds to a close we get the final Look Ahead for the TPP Top 25.

Georgetown @ West Virginia (Mon)- The Hoyas need a win in the worst kind of way. Losing to a Harangody-less Notre Dame team at home is no way for Georgetown to be heading into the Big East tournament. Freeman and Monroe are going to need to be big in Morgantown for the Hoyas to be able to right the ship.

Illinois @ Ohio State (Tue)- What a player of the year race it is going to be between Evan Turner and John Wall. Turner will try and make his case for the award by attempting to clinch at least a share of the Big 10 regular season title in the Buckeyes final game of the regular season. The Illini will be just as motivated though, they need a win for their NCAA At-large hopes.

Kansas State @ Kansas (Wed)- This is the biggest game of the week by far! Two top 5 teams battling it out for bragging rights and NCAA seeding position. The winner of the Big 12 will get a #1 seed and these two are the likely candidates to win the Big 12 tournament. Jacob Pullen and Denis Clemente lead a K-State team into Lawrence to try and knock off the nation's longest home court winning streak and enact some revenge for the Jayhawks win earlier in the season in Manhattan.

West Virginia @ Villanova (Sat)- Both of these teams have struggled at times down the stretch. They will be battling for Big East and NCAA tournament seeding in this final regular season matchup. Scottie Reynolds will be looking to have a big Senior Night and go out with a win. Watch out for the Mountaineers to steal one though, Ebanks and company will be looking for revenge after the Wildcats stole one in Morgantown in February.

Syracuse @ Louisville (Sat)- Speaking of revenge, Syracuse will be looking for revenge against Louisville, a team that handed the Orange their 2nd loss of the season not too long ago. Andy Rautins has really been an impact player for the Orange this year, look for him to have a big game. Syracuse, in all likelihood, can claim the #1 overall seed in the NCAA tournament if they win out. Louisville looks safe as an at-large team for now, but if the Cardinals struggle down the stretch they can find themselves on the preverbial bubble.

The TPP Week Ahead

Kansas @ Texas A&M (Monday)- Kansas brings a balanced attack from Sherron Collins, Cole Aldrich, and Marcus Morris into College Station to take on a hot Aggies team. The Aggies haven't really missed a beat since losing star player Derrick Roland to a season-ending knee injury. Donald Sloan is leading the Aggies with over 18 points per game, but the Aggies are also getting solid contributions from BJ Holmes, Bryan Davis, and David Loubeau. We have seen #1 teams go down on the road this year, will this be another upset?

Purdue @ Ohio State (Wednesday)- This begins a very tough week for the Buckeyes who will look to remain in 1st place in the Big 10. Everyone knows about Evan Turner, but the key to the Buckeyes very well may be other players like William Buford, Jon Diebler, and David Lauderdale. If they can help Turner out in the scoring and rebounding departments the Buckeyes stand a good chance to win at home. But don't count out the Boilermakers in this game just yet, they are tied with the Buckeyes and Spartans in the loss game, winning 7 in a row since their 3 game losing streak. If the Boilermakers can win out they have a chance at a #1 seed.

Syracuse @ Georgetown (Thursday)- A big battle between Big East teams that are kind of struggling at the moment. Both teams are coming off losses to teams they should have beat (Syracuse at home against Louisville and Georgetown @ Rutgers). The key to the game will be if the Georgetown guards can penetrate into the middle of the Syracuse zone to open up looks from the perimeter of for Greg Monroe. Syracuse is just going to have give more effort, period. They looked lethargic against Louisville.

Siena @ Butler (Saturday)- On Bracketbuster weekend I thought it was important to highlight the biggest Bracketbuster game. The game has lost some of its luster after Siena lost to Niagara on Friday, but this is still a game between two quality Mid-Majors. Butler has not lost a conference game so this will provide a big test for them. If Siena is going to have any chance to win they need to slow down Butler's 2 H's, Hayward and Howard. This is a crucial game for the Saints who in all likelihood need to win this game to have any chance at an At-Large bid.

Kentucky @ Vanderbilt (Saturday)- If Kentucky can through a tough test at Mississippi St. they may get a chance to move up to #1 with a win at Vanderbilt depending on what happens with Kansas earlier in the week. Winning at Vanderbilt is no easy task with the odd court setup, not to mention the fact that Vanderbilt is probably the 2nd best team in the SEC this year. A.J. Oglivy did not have a very good game at Rupp when the two teams met earlier in the year, he will be looking to have a major better performance at home to try and help Vandy pull the upset.

Villanova @ Pittsburgh (Sunday)- A huge Big East battle between two teams looking to make a statement before March. Villanova currently sits atop the Big East standings but with tough battles just about every time out, their lead is tenuous. Scottie Reynolds is the kind of Senior leader who can guide a team through a tough stretch of games like this, the Wildcats will lean heavily on him. After a 3OT thriller Pitt has moved into a tie with West Virginia for 3rd place and will be looking to climb even further up the Big East standings. A win over Villanova would be huge for Pittsburgh's NCAA tournament resume and give them good odds of a high seed come Tournament time.

Ohio State @ Michigan State (Sunday)- The battle for 1st place in the Big 10 takes place in East Lansing on Sunday. Both of these teams struggled when their star players were out with injury, but both are back healthy and ready to lead their teams to a Big 10 title. The Spartans aren't all Kalin Lucas though, they have three other players who average in double-figures in Summers, Green and Morgan. Expect a racuous crowd and some hard-nosed physical basketball.

Villanova @ West Virginia (Monday)
- Villanova comes off a tough loss to Georgetown and has to travel through the snow to Morgantown. Will they be fatigued and emotionally down after the loss or will they come out looking to rebound. Scottie Reynolds cannot carry this team by himself he is going to need help from players like Stokes, Fisher and Pena if the Wildcats are going to go into a hostile environment (very hostile if the Pitt game is any indication) and win. Butler has been unstoppable for the Mountaineers who can make an argument for a #1 seed if they get the win.

Kansas @ Texas (Monday)
- Kansas has looked vulnerable their last two games against Colorado and Nebraska. Now they must go to a struggling, but motivated Texas team. Cole Aldrich is going to have to win the individual battle against Dexter Pittman if the Jayhawks want to remain #1. Damion James and Dogus Balbay are going to have to step up their play defensively against the Kansas guards if the Longhorns have any chance to pull the upset.

Purdue @ Michigan St. (Tuesday)
- The loss of Kalin Lucas is huge for Michigan St. Korie Lucious is going to have to step it up if they want to get it going and stay ahead in the Big 10 race. Purdue has a very impressive non-conference resume and has rebounded since losing 3 conference games. E'Twaun Moore and Robbie Hummel are going to be a handful for the Michigan St. defense to stop.

New Mexico @ UNLV (Wednesday)
- I know there's some big rivalry in North Carolina this night, but these two have an intense rivalry as well. Darrington Hobson put up 29 points in the Lobos OT win over San Diego State and now goes home to his hometown of Las Vegas to play the hometown Rebels and try and avenge the Lobos earlier loss. Tre'Von Willis is also putting up monster numbers for UNLV and is stepping up his game in the absence of Derrick Jasper. The Rebels had a monster game shooting the 3 against BYU, the team that shoots the 3 better on Wednesday is likely to win the game. Winner has sole possession of 1st place in the Mountain West.

St. Mary's @ Gonzaga (Thursday)
- The battle for 1st place in the WCC takes center stage on Thursday night. St. Mary's features a very good post player in Omar Samhan; Gonzaga also has good post players in Robert Sacre and Elias Harris. Unlike the UNLV/New Mexico game this one is going to come down to points in the paint.

West Virginia @ Pitt (Friday)
- A rare Friday Big East tilt is the headliner of the day. The Backyard Brawl Part 2 will see some intense moments and perhaps even a flagrant foul or two. These teams, these fans plain don't like each other. Pitt has struggled of late, can the win over Seton Hall spark this team to get back on the right track?

Tennessee @ Kentucky (Saturday)
- A very big game in the SEC East. Tennessee may be the 2nd best team in the SEC and presents the biggest challenge to the Wildcats. Wayne Chism has really stepped up since the suspensions and dismissal of Tyler Smith. Kentucky will have a frenzied crowd on their side, oh yeah, and freshman phenom John Wall, who may have actually gotten better since his play was criticized by coach John Calipari.

The TPP Games of the Week

Texas @ Oklahoma State (Monday)- Stillwater is a very difficult place to play. Texas comes into Stillwater struggling by losing 3 of 4 including an overtime loss to Baylor at home. Even in other games this year (Texas Tech and Texas A&M) they have fallen behind big only to rally. Damien James and Avery Bradley are going to need to score and score big for the Longhorns to win in Stillwater. James Anderson is a complete stud for Oklahoma State but he is going to need help from teammates Marshall Moses and Kelton Page if the Cowboys are going to pull off the upset.

Game of the Week #1
Mississippi @ Kentucky (Tuesday)- Mississippi is coming off a heart-breaking loss to Arkansas at home and now must go to Kentucky with only one day in between. Chris Warren is the leading scorer for the Rebels who don't get a lot of time on National TV. Eniel Polynice is the son of former NBA player Olden Polynice and is another player to watch for the Rebels. We all know the usual suspects for the Wildcats; John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins, Patrick Patterson, Bledsoe, and now that the pressure of being #1 is off these Cats may go on another long run.

Game of the Week #2
Michigan St. @ Wisconsin (Tuesday)- Michigan St. begins a tough road trip this week by going into the Kohl Center. Wisconsin is very tough to beat at home, already knocking off Purdue and Duke. The Badgers only have two available players who average in double figures, so it is probably going to be up to the defense if the Badgers are to give Michigan State their 1st conference loss of the year. The Spartans have a lot of offense weapons that the Badgers are going to have to stop including Kalin Lucas and Durrell Summers.

Georgia Tech @ Duke (Thursday)- Georgia Tech already has a win earlier in the year over ACC-leading Duke but now must go into Cameron Indoor. Lawal and Favors are a dynamic duo in the frontcourt for the Yellow Jackets; Zoubek and Miles Plumlee are going to have their hands full with those two. On the other end Duke is going to need big games for Singler and Scheyer to be able to beat a very good Yellow Jackets team.

Villanova @ Georgetown (Saturday)- Both of these teams have outstanding guards leading their team in Scottie Reynolds and Austin Freeman. The Hoyas however also have a big man down low in Greg Monroe. If the Hoyas are going to give the Wildcats their first loss in Big East play it will be because Monroe has a big game.

BYU @ UNLV (Saturday)- UNLV comes into this game just outside of the TPP Top 25 and is looking to make its way in. More importantly though this game will be for 1st place in the Mountain West as long as neither of the teams have a slip up earlier in the week. It will be interesting to see how the Rebels play with the loss of Derrick Jasper who is out for the next few weeks. UNLV imploys a pressure-filled defense, much of that pressure will be constrated on pressuring BYU's star guard Jimmer Fredette. -Lobofan2003

The People's Poll Top 25-Games of the Week

Game of the Week #1
Georgetown @ Syracuse (Mon.)- Georgetown has won two in a row, including a win at Pittsburgh. Chris Wright has really stepped it up for the Hoyas in the last few games, he will have to be a factor against the Syracuse zone if the Hoyas are to steal a win at the Carrier Dome. For the Orange, freshman Brandon Triche has really come on as of late and is averaging in double figures. The key for this game is going to be the Syracuse zone, it should do a good job neutralizing Greg Monroe on the insdie, but if Freeman and Wright get going from the perimeter the 'Cuse may be in for an upset at home.

Kansas State @ Baylor (Tue.)- How do the Wildcats respond after a loss at home to Oklahoma State. If you like good potent-scoring guards you should watch this one as Kansas State's Pullen and Clemente go up against LaceDarius Dunn and Tweety Carter.

BYU @ New Mexico (Wed.)- BYU passed their first difficult road test by winning at San Diego State on Saturday. Winning at the Pit is a whole different animal. The decibal level at the Pit has reached 118dB in a game in the 1990's against Arizona. That's darn near pants-crapping levels or the so called "Brown Note". No doubt with a top 10 (coaches poll) BYU in town it will get near that loud again. Then again it may be the Lobos fans crapping their pants if BYU's Jimmer Fredette drops 33 on them like he did against San Diego State. BYU on the other hand will have a difficult time matching up with 6'7" Darrington Hobson, nobody on the BYU team can match his athleticism.

Wisconsin @ Purdue (Thur.)- Both of these teams have had their struggles but at times look like they could challenge Michigan State for the Big 10 Title. Both teams play solid defense, so don't expect a high-scoring game. The Badgers are going to have some way to contain E'Twaun Moore and Robbie Hummel otherwise they could be in for a long night on the road.

Butler @ Green Bay (Fri.)- Green Bay has already knocked off a ranked Wisconsin team this season. They look to knock off another ranked foe when conference rival Butler comes to town. Watch guard Rahmon Fletcher for the Phoenix in this game; despite being only 5'10" he is the Phoenix's leading scorer with over 16 points per game. On the other end Gordon Hayward is a major weapon for Butler, not many teams can stop him as he leads the Bulldogs in points and rebounds. Butler can essentially wrap up the Horizon League Title with a win in this game.

Kansas @ Kansas State (Sat.)- We already know that Kansas State can knock off a top-ranked team at home. This week they'll have to settle for playing the #2 Jayhawks in a huge cross-state rivalry game. Most people have heard of the duel guard scoring threats for the Wildcats in Denis Clemente and Jacob Pullen, but I was more impressed with Samuels and K-State's inside game. The Wildcats were able to shut down Dexter Pittman, now let's see if the post players can shut down Cole Adrich. Kansas has so many weapons beside Aldrich though, they have Xavier Henry, Sherron Collins, Marcus Morris, etc.; who does K-State try and take away? -Lobofan2003

Week 10 Games of the Week

Game of the Week
Texas @ Kansas State (Monday)

Texas is coming off a rough outing against Texas A&M. Now they must go into a hostile environment in Manhattan, KS to try and stay unbeaten. If they are to stay undefeated they are going to need a much better game from Dexter Pittman; he needs to not only score in the low post, but also grab offensive rebounds to give the Longhorns second chance opportunities. On the other side, Kansas State is going to look to their two star guards, Denis Clemente and Jacob Pullen. Clemente and Pullen will be looking to cause havoc on the offensive end, creating matchup problems for the Texas guards. They are also going to have to be active on the defensive end and look for opportunites for steals to lead to fast break opportunities.

Clemson @ Georgia Tech (Tuesday)

Two teams that knocked off North Carolina last week square off in an important ACC showdown. Georgia Tech has shown they can beat anybody, but they can also lose to anybody. Trevor Booker will look to establish a presence inside against the Yellow Jackets. Favors and Lawal will go against Booker and may cause problems for Clemson on the other end as well. I look for this to be a physical contest where the last one standing is going to win the game.

Northern Iowa @ Wichita St. (Tuesday)

If you haven't watched a Missouri Valley game all season now would be a good time to start. First place and undefeated in conference play, Northern Iowa goes into Wichita to take on second place Wichita State. The Missouri Valley has some very good home court advantages and Wichita is one of them, so Northern Iowa is going to have their work cut out for them. Northern Iowa doesn't have a lot of star players or high scorers, but what they do have is a very solid defense and a team that has experienced NCAA tournaments in the past. Both teams need this game for their potential at-large chances if they fail to win the Missouri Valley Tournament.

Georgetown @ Pittsburgh (Wednesday)

Austin Freeman and Greg Monroe are the keys for this Georgetown that is now struggling just a little bit. After losing a heartbreaker to Villanova the Hoyas must go on the road again to play a very hot Pittsburgh team. Brad Wanamaker is making a big difference for Pitt who is undefeated in Big East play. In order to keep up with Villanova for the conference lead this is a game Pitt must win at home. If Pitt does win, they may be a Top 5 team before you know it.

Xavier @ Temple (Wednesday)

The battle for 1st place in the A-10 has many implications. Thanks to a difficult schedule and a high RPI Temple is in line for a high seed if the NCAA tournament began today. As A-10 play gets more difficult those losses may pile up for the Owls and affect their NCAA seeding possibilities. Speaking of tough schedules, Xavier has played just as tough, if not a tougher schedule, than Temple. Heartbreaking losses to Butler and Wake Forest (both on the road) could have gotten the Muskateers down, instead they've shot out to a 4-0 start in A-10 play. Jordan Crawford is a really talented player for the Muskateers, Temple is going to have to find some way to slow him down if they want to prevent the Muskateers from stealing one on the road.

Ohio State @ West Virginia (Saturday)

An important non-conference matchup in late January pits the Buckeyes against the Mountaineers. These are two teams heading in opposite directions at the moment. With Evan Turner back the Buckeyes have reeled off 3 wins in their last 4 games. Beating the Mountaineers in Morgantown would add another resume win to the Buckeyes ledger. West Virginia on the other hand needs big games for Ebanks and Butler to win a game against a ranked opponent.

BYU @ San Diego State (Saturday)

Just like the Missouri Valley game earlier in the week, if you haven't watched a Mountain West game yet this year you need to tune into this one. BYU has only one-loss and is undefeated in conference play, but this is their first big conference road test. These teams play two very contrasting styles: BYU likes to play on the perimeter with guards Jimmer Fredette and Jackson Emery; SDSU likes to play physical and beat people on the inside with Kahwi Leonard, Billy White and Malcom Thomas. In the end this game is going to come down to the referees; yes, the referees. If they call a tight game then BYU will have the advantage, if they let them play SDSU will be able to beat up BYU on the inside and control the game. -Lobofan2003
