Dwight Howard's mom wants him to stay with Magic

By Matt Moore

Mama tried

Sunday night during the NBA All-Star Game, TNT's Craig Sager reported that he had spoken with Dwight Howard's mother and she had said she wants Howard to stay in Orlando.

Meanwhile, multiple indications suggest the Nets continue to believe they are the front-runners for Howard according to multiple outlets.

So Dwight Howard is essentially torn between one of the most powerful men in Russia, and his own mother. This is like some bizarre political thriller, only with a poor hook shot and too many commercials.

Howard's mother will no doubt have an influence on his decision but there are so many factors to consider. His agent, his publicist, his teammates, his friend, his former coaches, his relationship with Stan Van Gundy, Otis Smith, and Rich DeVos are just a few of the things weighing on his mind. While family's obviously important to Dwight, ths is his decision to make. Still, it's never good to have your mom publicly come out and state what she thinks, since now it'll be known he went against her wishes if he leaves. From the Orlando Sentinel:
Unless Dwight does an immediate about-face, takes his mother's advice (she reportedly told TNT's courtside reporter Craig Sager she wants him to stay in Orlando) and commits to signing an extension, the Magic must deal him and get something of value.

"That's my mom's opinion," Dwight said afterward when asked about Sager's report. "… I don't want to talk about that stuff right now."

Got to be your own man, the saying goes. But man, to have to deal with all this and now your mom? Bet this isn't how Dwigh thought All-Star Weekend would go.

Being in the right place and under the correct conditions, Dwight could easily make up the 30 million dollar difference in pay. This could be in endorsements, shoe deals and other sports or entertainment type deals that might come his way being in a larger sports market.

He and Mamma would have to solve their differences and make peace with each other. I think from listening to him that moms have made her statement, and he has made his statement.

The other problem about him his child and baby  mama would be solved by him. This is a private matter best left to the parties involved.

The NBA is a job like any other. People get waived or traded that’s ok. If you want to leave then you get trashed. Most people play to win a ring that’s with any sport. Howard have the right to go and play were he pleases. Many of would leave your job and your family to make more the money they make. So get of that self righteous tip. The end game is most of you are jealous of the players and wish you could make half of what they make. If he picked your team your mouth would be wide open talking about a ring. The key it is called FREE AGENT

I'm pretty sure Brook Lopez, Kris Humphries, Anthony Morrow and Marshon Brooks can beat Ryan Anderson, Hedo Turkgolu, Jason Richardson and Jameer Nelson. Why don't you google who is the player Dwight Howard would most like to play with? His answer right from his own words was Anthony Morrow. Don't know why but he obviously likes him better than the scrubs on his own team.

Why is this considered newsworthy? Does anybody care about what an NBA player's mom or any family member thinks? There has to be a better 'sports' related story to cover than this...Isn't there? This site is useful during March Madness and that's about it.

Howard stays. Next year they amnesty Turk. Use that money to sign a big timer. Win the 2013 NBA championship. I mean, why does anyone assume Howard wants anything to do w/ NJ? If you removed Howard from the Magic lineup and DWill from the Nets lineup and let those teams play a series. Magic CRUSH. just that simple. Howard wants to win, the Nets are far from that even with him.

"I'd rather be Cleveland with Kyrie Irving than Denver with Galinari which is basically what they have since Chandler and Felton are gone"

BucFan I hope you are talking long term here, because Galinari is having a top 15 performance based on statiscal efficiency. Not to mention that prior to his injury Denver was #4 in the West while Irving has Cleveland as #9 in the East.

"If Dwight does walk he'll look like the biggest self-centered piece of garbagge, seeking more fame for himself over spending more time with his son."

Lol, rather short-sighted opinion right there...dude is rich, he can easily buy his baby-mama a house wherever he goes....way to trash somebody over something you have no clue about (his relationship with his child).
