All-Star Saturday night is happening, which is exciting, for all of us, really. (Getty Images)

It's All-Star Saturday Night, when the best, or at least best with respect to relative health, come out to shine under the bright lights and other cliches. The Skills Contest, the 3-Point Shooting Contest, and the Slam Dunk Contest take place Saturday night, and we'll have updates to all the events and highlights here. Consider this your home for All-Star Saturday Night.

You can follow us on Twitter @EyeOnBasketball, and follow our guys on the ground in our All-Star Saturday Night Experience

Haier Shooting Stars: Let's be honest, this is like the opening band you don't show up for.

Your contestants:

Team Orlando: Jameer Nelson, Marie Ferdinand-Harris, Dennis Scott

Team Atlanta: Jerry Stackhouse, Lindsey Harding, Steve Smith

Team New York: Landry Fields, Cappi Pondexter, Allan Houston

Team Texas: Chandler Parsons, Sophia Young, Kenny Smith

Winner: TEAM NEW YORK: Allan Houston still has it. The man downed two half-court shots and team New York cleared the final round in 37 seconds. The fact that Kenny Smith and Allan Houston are still better shooters than any of the Milwaukee Bucks is a bit distressing.

From Royce Young of CBSSports.com:

A reporter asked Allan Houston if he's in such good shape where he could almost -- "Stop. Stop it right now. This was fun ... It feels good to have a uniform again, but that's about it. That's about the limits if it." Then Landry Fields jumped in saying, "He's not taking that uniform off tonight."

Taco Bell Skills Challenge: Please don't hurt yourselves, you're basically your entire teams

Russell Westbrook

Rajon Rondo

John Wall

Deron Williams

Tony Parker

Winner: Tony Parker: Kyrie Irving was basically terrible. Rajon Rondo outid Russell Westbrook with a great time in a run-off round, then both Rondo and Deron Williams went on a brick fest on the mid-range jumper. Parker breezed to a win. The effort in this wasn't the worst thing you've ever seen, provided you've seen the Washington Wizards play this season. Williams didn't win, but he did have the fastest time on this run:

Foot Locker 3-Point Contest: If James Jones win, we're going to spit

James Jones

Kevin Love

Ryan Anderson

Kevin Durant

Anthony Morrow

Mario Chalmers

Winner: Kevin Love in an upset! Love found himself in a shoot-off with Kevin Durant after tying him in the final round, and then bested the scoring leader 17-14. James Jones made it to the final round and had a pretty low bar of 16 to best, but couldn't get it done, dropping just 12. A dominant rebounding power forward just won the 3-point contest. Boom. Sprite Slam Dunk Contest: You don't know their names, but maybe that means they can only exceed expectations

Paul George

Derrick Williams

Chase Budinger

Jeremy Evans

Winner: No one. It was very likely the worst dunk contest of all time. Jeremy Evans did win, in a contest that featured him making a straight reverse dunk with a camera attached that no one got, and dunking over Kevin Hart dressed as a mailman while wearing a Karl Malone jerey. The coolest dunk of the night was Paul George in the dark. Goodnight everyone, and may God have Mercy on our souls.

Time to bring in the street ballers who will bring new life to the dunk contest.  Pathetic.  Were are all the star's from the NBA?   Oh yeah their ego's would take a hit if they perform.

Everything has already been done on the dunk contest, it's not like you can keep getting more and more creative for it.

I find the shooting challenges more fun, it's not about being creative but about hitting your shots.

I never thought I would live to see an athletic society where it is better to not participate at all or try your best for fear of "losing" or heaven forbid.... "looking bad." Oh my, wouldn't that be horrible! We can't take a charge because we might get dunked on and then someone might tweet about it or we can't have our true stars in the league in the dunk contest because if we lost, we might only get 150 million dollars for that endorsement instead of 200 million.

It's ridiculous and I don't know the solution. Can we make these a**holes participate? Probably not, they will go whining to the union. That is why Jordan, Dominique, and the rest are way better than anyone playing now, because they were there. Oh yea and by the way, many of the guys who "lost" back then, still made the hall of fame.

The league not only makes them rich, it should make their great great grandchildren rich. I think participating is the least these prima donnas can do!!

LOL, John Wall is not a super star, nor is he a great dunker, neither is Melo... I would put Rose out there over them, but his back is sore so not a good idea.

Howard, Lebron, Griffin, maybe one of those other guys to add diversity

Theres really only a certan number of ways you can throw a ball through a hoop and most of the stuff has already been done so this is what you get now nothing but  over usage of props and tribute dunks.

It's not that fans don't enjoy dunking anymore. Every night we jump out of our seats for an "exciting" in-game or top 10 dunkon ESPN. If it's not in-game somethings got to make it exciting. How about the stars whose dunks we look forward to each night, huh? Have the fans vote for the participants or make it the East vs the West with each conference's top dunkers on display. The biggest stage in the NBA, the finals, even has up and down years depending on the teams involved. Offer more incentive to the players if you must...I'm just saying.

Not that dunks aren"t exciting, but just like the NBA finals, the participants can heighten the level of anticipation and enjoyment for the fans. It doesn't hurt the ratings either. Someone will win the competition- a must. Fans will be interested no matter who takes part- "I don't think so"

The slam dunk competition is a joke now and days.  1) Who are these people?  We need the superstars like Lebron, John Wall, Carmelo, and etc...  2) What is it with all the stupid props?  If you watch dunk contest from years ago you see superstars real creativity.  Creativity that involved dunking between your legs, from behind the backboard, and behind the back.  Now all you see are stupid props and then jumping over them.  Slam dunk competition is a joke and will be unless changes are made.
