By Matt Moore

The NBA annnounced Thursday night that it has added New York Knicks sensation Jeremy Lin to the "Rising Stars" competition which took the place of the Rookies-Sophomores game this year during NBA All-Star Weekend. Due to overwhelming fan support, and the fact that more peope know about Lin than about half of the rest of the competitors, Lin was added to the pool. Later Thursday, Shaquille O'Neal and Charles Barkley selected their teams. Shaquille O'Neal selected Lin second, third overall during the process.

Miami Heat rookie point guard Norris Cole, another notable omission, was also added to the player pool.

It comes as no surprise as the NBA has tried every imaginable way to figure out how to include Lin this weekend. David Stern had said earlier Thursday that he would not allow Lin into the game as to not interfere with the current setup but popular sentiment won out.

Turns out even David Stern is powerless against Linsanity.

The draft for each team was held on NBATV with Blake Griffin going No. 1 to Shaq's team. Charles Barkley selected Kyrie Irving second overall. Shaq took Jeremy Lin in the third round. John Wall wasn't taken until the 11th pick. Here are how the two teams shake out:

Team Shaq: Blake Griffin, Jeremy Lin, Ricky Rubio, Markieff Morris, Greg Monroe, Landry Fields, Norris Cole, Kemba Walker, Brandon Knight and Tristan Thompson.

Team Chuck: Kyrie Irving, DeMarcus Cousins, Gordon Hayward, Paul George, Derrick Williams, MarShon Brooks, John Wall, Tiago Splittler, Evan Turner and Kawhi Leonard.

Jeremy Lin added to rookies-sophomores game pool

Dynamike says:  "HEY DUMMY KNICK FANS.......Ur boy Lin has been logging a ton of minutes vs a higher level of competetion.....he could actually use the REST 3 off days would provide instead of traveling and playing in a meaningless joke of a game. Think long-term morons."

Hey dummy dynamike, think long term moron - participating in the all star festivities as a player that represents hope to the underdogs is an honor.  that opportunity does not come every year.  the benefits far outweigh just getting 3 days of rest for this season.  think longer term, moron.

I could not tell you for how long I have really not been interested in the NY Knicks.  I am not sure what it was, but I would watch something else than watch the Knicks.  Then, out of the blue...a well-mannered kid by the name of Jeremy Linn makes the whole NBA turn its head and watches him turn the Knicks program around.  Sure, they have not played all elite teams, but when you are missing a couple of your stars and he takes it upon himself to make the team more productive.  His performance in the Laker game was INCREDIBLE!

I am thrilled to death that they are including him in the All-Star weekend.  I think its only fair because he has made a difference in the very few games that he has played.  I doubt he will get to see too many minutes, just because they have a bunch of point guards on the Shaq-coached all-star team.  But...it was honorable that the NBA included him.

Most importantly though, he has put the Knicks in position to cause a stir in the NBA.  When all then media jumped on the Linn band wagon and you couldn't turn on a sports station without hearing about him...you knew it was time to give the young lad a chance to play on a big weekend and hang out with all the big stars.

Is Stern really that retarded? He's worried about the integrity of the Rising Stars game while he trashes the NBA every waking moment of the day with stupid decision and corruption.
