Everything was proceeding normally until LeBron James decided to jump over somebody.

The Heat's All-Star forward jumped completely over Chicago Bulls guard John Lucas III to complete an alley-oop from Heat guard Dwyane Wade during Sunday's matchup between last year's Eastern Conference finalists. With the Heat leading 14-7, James used a back screen from Heat guard Mario Chalmers to run mostly free on the baseline. Lucas, a 5-foot-11 guard, switched in an attempt to defend James once the lob action developed. James simply hurdled him completely, catching the pass with one hand above the rim and somehow managing to finish the dunk cleanly. Upon re-entry to Earth, James turned around and barked at Lucas, letting him know exactly what had happened.

"It's a great pass by D-Wade," James said in a televised postgame interview. "Without the pass, I don't finish the shot. Give all the props to D-Wade. I just went to go get it."

"Give all the credit to D-Wade," James repeated in a postgame interview posted on "He threw it, I can't let him down and not go get it. It was a great play out of the timeout, D-Wade threw it and I was able to finish it... We're not 'Lob City' but we're doing OK."

Simply ridiculous. Here's the video of LeBron James jumping over a defender to finish an alley-oop against the Chicago Bulls.

Forgot to add.

SoCalAce you must truly be a winner.  I don't know how you can assume anything about me because I didn't find Lebron's dunk amazing.  I'm sorry it's too hard for you to believe there are literally dozens of guys (most of whom will never be on ESPN) who could do that dunk rather easily.  Again, I'm not saying it wasn't nice, just that I've seen it a bunch of times and it was almost always more impressive.  Go back and watch Carter's dunk over Weis and if you still think Lebron's dunk was somehow earth shattering then you really need some glasses.

First off, someone asked if I could do it.  I answered that I couldn't.  Secondly, it really doesn't matter whether I saw guys do it in high school, on ESPN, or on the street.  The whole topic is about whether you found the dunk impressive.  I clearly said no.  I've seen too many guys smaller than Lebron jump over guys who were bigger than they were.  I didn't find a 6'8" guy jumping over a 5'7" guy that impressive.  Forgive me if I'm not all over Lebron's jock for a nice dunk.  Perhaps I should say I was impressed but not amazed as all of you guys were.

Nice opportunity to tell everyone you could reverse dunk once upon a time... Really had to try to squeeze that one in. Is that supposed to make you an authority on the subject because you could dunk a long time ago?

Aww...someone thinks they coulda done more with their life. Unfortunately, you're just like the rest of us...watching videos and making comments. There's a reason it makes the highlight reel...because in several hundred games during the season, there are only a few dunks this cool. Please don't compare high school buddies to LeBron James.

I started off by saying it wasn't that impressive.  I still don't think it is.  Could I do it?  No.  I could reverse dunk with two hands in my twenties at 6'4" but I never got up anywhere as high as Lebron.  However, if you grow up in Chicago it's impossible that you never came across a guy that couldn't get up as high or higher than these guys.  Ronnie Fields was a teammate of Kevin Garnett's at Farragut HS here and he was 6'2" and jumped over 6'4" Sergio McClain (played on 2001 Illinois Final Four Squad) and he didn't duck!  Also, my cousin played with Derrick Rose's brother DeWayne at Hubbard.  There was a guy on that squad who was 6'1" named Ramone.  That guy could do any dunk in existence except maybe free throw line (he jumped off two feet).   If anyone gets a chance to talk to Derrick or meet him ask him if he can beat Ramone in a dunk contest.  I'll bet he'll just smile and ask how you know Ramone.

Nice story I know but if you go around the country there are a bunch of guys like this that never played NBA ball but can do alot of the stuff you see there.  Forgive me if I don't get too excited when a 6'9" guy dunks over a 5'10" guy half bent over.

Isn't that an over the back foul since he touched him?

Oh and for all the people claiming Lucas ducked and it's not as amazing as Vinsanity's dunk on the 7' in the olympics, the 7' was ducking too. LeBron's was on an alley-oop for god's sake..

You were speaking of ignorant?  Ummmmm Lebron's dunk was was not in the same league as Carter's in the Olympics...not even close.  Plus anyone who has ever dunked knows an alley oop is much easier to elevate for than to dunk off the dribble: a la Spud Webb's dunk contest.  Vince poked one over a 7'3" guy with FORCE.  Put Lebron's in the top 10 ever if you want but don't dare compare that to Vince's dunk....that's plain ignorant.

Although Lebron James had a running start, is coming to close to jumping 71 inches (we'll say 60 inches for the sake of argument).  I don't care who you are, what team you play for, this was a great highlight.

This may be one of the most asenine comments I've seen....His head is at the rim, he is 6'9", that's 36 plus 3, which is 39.  Not taking away from James....the dunk was NASTY.  But the guy didn't come close and he has never came close to jumping 60 inches/5 feet off the ground much less 71 inches....his chest would be over the rim if that was the case
