Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni announced Friday that forward Carmelo Anthony would miss both the Knicks' game against the Miami Heat in Miami Friday night and against the Rockets Saturday night. Anthony has been battling left hand and wrist, and right wrist injuries.

Anthony has played through the injuries in the last few games but commented after the Knicks' loss to the Nuggets last week that the may need to sit a few games to heal. More damage done during the Knicks' loss to the Cavaliers likely sealed the deal. The Knicks' sole bright spot in the last week and a half has been their play vs. the Bobcats, a game in which Anthon was a non-factor, hardly shooting compared to his normal rate. If the Knicks were to somehow get the win over the Heat in Miami, the questions about Anthony's role on the Knicks will reach an even higher temperature.

Anthony said he "tried to be a superhero" and play through the injuries but that he should have rested recently.

The Knicks will also be without Baron Davis for yet another game. Davis has been out with a bulging disc in his back and trying to get into playing condition. Josh Harrellson is also out for the Knicks, which means their frontcourt is going to be very thin against the Heat. Bill Walker will get the start for New York in place of Anthony.

Melo out vs. Heat Friday, Rockets Saturday

everyone conplains about melo, but u clearly dont watch the games then. there is no body else to take a shot id rather melo take thirty shots then keep passing it to peple like bill walker, jefferies, lin, balkman, etc. the bench is horrible and the only reason he needs to take these shots is cuz amare has been playing like garbage, and i see people saying ohh look at the nuggets now, are u stupid? the knicks gave them 4 starters for 1 guy, they better be fucking good. when amare can pick up and get going with the way shumpert has been layin and some life is coming out of chander recently and we get davis back and he hopefully has a lil bit left in him he doesnt need to be great just needs to be able to pass, this team will be a good playoff team. especially cuz melo is one the best closers maybe even the best closer in the game

Learn from past mistakes

Can't blame this mess on Isaiah Thomas...  If the Knicks lose tonight and tomorrow, they will be what, 7-13?  D'Antoni will not survive much longer if that happens.

When D'Antoni goes (hopefully sooner rather than later), the Knicks will not make the same mistake they made when Isaiah Thomas was fired.  The concept that everything Isaiah did was bad is wrong - and has proven to be counterproductive.  Isaiah Thomas was TERRIBLE coach (apparently for grown men, but he is not doing poorly in college), but his ROSTER was probably as good as this one.

The Knicks starting 5 now is Shumpert/Davis (when he comes back), Melo, Amare, and Tyson Chandler.

Had the Knicks not blown up but built upon what Isaiah left, they would have started 3 years ago with

Nate Robinson and Jamal Crawford (which is better than what they have now by A LOT) with Wilson Chandler, Zach Randolph, and David Lee up front.  That, plus the next 3 years worth of draft picks (the first one being Danillo, though I doubt Zeke would have taken him).

The point is the Knicks used roster management as a public relations move - TERRIBLE idea.  By doing so, the Knicks took a step backwards.  Don't tell me about Melo/Amare getting 48 points and 15 rebounds per game - Crawford and Randolph would have given you VERY similar numbers with starting minutes.

If D'Antoni is fired, do not blow up the roster and try again.  if we are looking at a comparable roster 4 years from now with a new coach, I am going to be very angry as a Knick fan.  James Dolan, don't make me angry.  You won't like me when I'm angry.

This "sprained" wrist BS is just a typical coverup by the NY media which glamorizes him, another traditional excuse for when an alleged media-made "star player" really sucks.

Carmelo Anthony is nothing but a gangsta wannabe selfish turd.  He needs to jack up 25-30 shot attempts a game just to make 7-8 baskets and create this illusion that he's some kind of "great scorer." The guy is slower than molassas and destroys any tempo the rest of the team attempts to get going. This guy isn't even worth minimum salary, at best he's a bench guy.

Yesssssssssssss thank you so much for taking MELOdrama off our hands! The Nuggets are a team now, and we see playing a little defense is a good thing! Keep chucking up those fall away jumpers with a defender in your face.

Knicks fan here...glad he's sitting. No point in chucking up shots when you're hurting. Oh yeah, Kobe goes SO HARD, because there's nobody else there to carry the scoring load. You think Gasol and Bynum are going to put up 25 a game each? Get real. At least with Melo sitting, the Knicks still have Amar'e to take over. Yes, our record is lousy, but I have faith we will right the ship and still make the playoffs and every analyst says "It's just about making the playoffs this year." Once you're in the playoffs, the sky is the limit and this Knicks team will be scary by then.

What a waste of money this guy is.  I bet they wished they had Danilo Galinari back.  Stupid Knicks.
