InsideHoops.com has the details on a foot injury that is expected to sideline Augustin for Charlotte's next four games.
Bobcats guard D.J. Augustin was seen by Charlotte orthopedist Dr. Bob Anderson today and the diagnosis confirmed an inflammatory condition of the sesmoid bones that lie in the flexor tendons on his right big toe.A report surfaced recently indicating that Augustin would not be receiving a contract extension from the Bobcats in advance of Wednedsay's deadline. Instead, he is on track to become a restricted free agent during the summer of 2012.
Augustin re-aggravated the injury, which had bothered him previously, during to the first quarter of the Bobcats’ Jan. 22, matchup at New Jersey. Augustin is expected to miss the team’s next four games (five days total).
The Bobcats host the New York Knicks on Tuesday, visit the Washington Wizards on Wednesday, travel to Philadelphia to face the 76ers on Friday and host the Wizards on Saturday. They are currently 3-14 on the season.
Look for rookie guard Kemba Walker to carry more of the load for the Bobcats in Augustin's absence. Walker has started alongside Augustin for Charlotte's last five games.
Augustin, 24, is averaging 13.6 points, 6.6 assists and 3.1 rebounds per game this season.
