She is about to get half.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Los Angeles Lakers All-Star guard Kobe Bryant will likely be on the hook for $75 million or more in a divorce settlement with his wife, Vanessa, because he did not have a prenuptial agreement. The couple announced that they were filing for divorce in December.
The apparent lack of a prenuptial agreement -- coupled with 10 years of marriage -- will likely significantly increase the size of Vanessa Bryant's divorce settlement with Kobe Bryant, legal experts said.

Some estimates put Kobe Bryant's net worth at $150 million. Legal experts said Vanessa Bryant will probably receive at least $75 million in addition to ongoing spousal and child support.

The fact the marriage lasted 10 years gives Vanessa Bryant several advantages under California divorce law. After passing the 10-year mark, attorney Dmitry Gorin said, a marriage is defined as a lengthy one, which means the spouse is allowed to maintain her standard of living after the split.
The couple has two daughters, ages 8 and 5.

In a prepared statement issued to the media in December, a representative of the Bryant said: "The Bryants have resolved all issues incident to their divorce privately with the assistance of counsel and a Judgment dissolving their marital status will be entered in 2012."

According to Basketball-Reference.com, Bryant has earned more than $196 million in salary during his NBA career. Bryant is on the books for $25 million for the 2011-2012 season, tops in the NBA according to Forbes.com, and has an additional $57 million owed to him in 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 combined. SI.com reports that Bryant makes at least $10 million per year in off-court endorsements.

Report: Kobe Bryant to pay $75 million in divorce

Sure Kobe can afford to pay this out, he has ongoing potential to make it back.  With that said I will never understand the financial settlements in a divorce.  Whether it is the man or the woman who makes the money, I do not get why the other party is "entitled" to so much.  Let's take Kobe's case for a second.......the arguement is that because Vanessa was in the marriage it prevented her from seeking other opportunities to earn a living and she is now accustom to this lifestyle.  Let's think about this for a minute, what endeavors would Vanessa have pursued to earn $75 million dollars over the last 10 years?  I would say nothing except another extremely wealthy athlete.  She is accustom to the lifestyle......who cares, she only had it because of Kobe, nothing she did.  She is entitled to have a roof over her head and the funds needed to feed and clothe their children.  It should be a decision between Kobe and Vanessa about where they live, go to school and how they dress, not a court ordered "penalty".  If Kobe wants to pay for more than is necessary to provide what they need, good for him........the kids should be taken care of.  Vanessa should not be entitled to anything, she knew going in that she was entering a world where her "man" could and most likely would cheat.  Is this news?  You could probably count the number of loyal husbands on NBA teams with one hand.
With the way our courts side with the "non-earning" partner in these cases, Kobe is probably lucky he is only stuck with a one time $75 million payout instead of having a portion of all future earnings set aside for Vanessa, but this is a joke.

Report: Kobe Bryant to pay $75 million in divorce

Kobe was given a 2nd chance after the Colorado incident.

Looks like he did not learn from that situation.

Now he has to pay his soon to be ex wife an overwhelming amount of cash... $75 million plus continuous support!!!!

His 2 daughters are 5 & 8... the child support alone will be a substantial amount that he has to pay until both daughters turn 18.

smh

75 million and still ongoing spousal and child support. Are you kidding me? This country is out of control. So the 75 million isnt enough to maintain a life style and support your children? This is upsurd and pathetic.

JBlanco, you say busted ass woman like you have something sitting at home that's better looking than Kobe's girl. Have some respect, bro. He's a scumbag because he cheated- you don't do that. Just another athlete with no regard for how they act. If you're rich and you want to bang out as many people as possible, be smart and don't get married. If I start making 25 million a year I'll never get married...

You can't put a price on freedom. Now Kobe gets to bang all those hot groupies after the game and not have to answer to a busted ass wife. Besides, it's not like he's gonna be hurting for money.
