You can buy Wizards tickets for next to nothing

Apparently D.C. is treating "Wizards fever" like an actual venereal disease. Because they're staying away in droves. The winless Wizards are listed on StubHub.com for next to nothing. That's not an exaggeration, either. With the Wizards playing the Raptors Tuesday night, not exactly a marquee matchup, starting prices or the upper-upper deck are $1.00 per ticket.

Want a VIP box? $75 dollars! Lower bowl behind the basket? $6 dollars! Get 'em while they're stagnant in sub-zero temperatures.

Meanwhile, Rashard Lewis on Monday had to refute a CSN Washington report that he skipped Sunday's game because of an argument with assistant coach Sam Cassell.

But hey, Flip Saunders' job is safe, so they've got that going for them. Meanwhile, the Washington Posthas a quote from an Eastern Conference GM which hits the nail on the head.
An Eastern Conference assistant general manager echoed that the Wizards need to establish a culture of accountability and high character to deliver a successful rebuild. “No team in the league, if the environment was good, would be 0-for-the-season,” he said. “Whatever the optimum each guy has, it’ll never be realized when it’s dysfunctional. The talent on that roster can’t win. You can’t win with Andray Blatche. I don’t care what anybody says. He has talent. He has some talent. But tell me where he’s won. . . . John Wall is a young player. Where’s the veteran leadership for those guys? Gilbert [Arenas] was the former example. What kind of example was that?”
via Wizards’ woes stem from from lack of talent and losing culture, executives say - The Washington Post.

And that's why you can get Wizards tickets for the change in your couch.

LoL.. Yeah that's what they said about Agent 0 10 or so years ago...
Look where that took them...

Just like ordinary jobs you need to pay for talent.  Yes there are exceptions where a player can develop.
John Wall can develop, but without a veteran leader that would unlikely happen.  Young players are by nature impatient and would like to win and be stars tomorrow.  With no veteran leadership, there is no filter in that.  Result  is a one person team who thinks they will take over the game to win.  Micheal Jordan was like that.  It took Phil Jackson's leadership to control and have him accept he needs help and its a team sport.  John Wall is no Micheal Jordan, but he has talent to be a great player.

I stopped caring about Les Bullettes when they let Ben Wallace leave.  Upper managament has ruined this franchise.  Michael Jordan brought them back to the playoffs, but ownership used him and kicked him out of town.  Sure he made mistakes, but at least he had the team moving in the right direction.  Maybe Leonsis can fix the franchise.  I doubt it.

Crud.  Wish I had read this last week.  I just bought 4 tix to the Wiz-Pacers in April.  8 rows behind the Pacers bench for $350 total.  I've been suckered in!!

There is nothing respectable about being a loser.  The tickets should be given away to ANYONE that has 3 hours of their life to waste.

Granted, the Wizards are a young team, still finding their way.  Unlike most NBA teams (see NYKnicks, Heat, Boston Celtics, etc ..) who look to 'buy' a championship team, the Wizards are trying to do it the old-fashioned & respectable way, build one from within.

A few years from now once the talent has time to 'gel' and in addition to adding additional pieces (via free agency, draft) and the Wizards becomes a consistently, winning franchise, it will be interesting to see how then the press & media speak on this team.  Right now, the individual talent is clearly better than the sum of the team.  In time, the team will catch up.
