Charles Barkley hosted Saturday Night Live for the third time, well, Saturday, and the show kicked off with Sir Charles sitting in Shaq's new seat on Inside the NBA. I'd say Barkley did a pretty nice job of playing Shaq. He kept it good and boring.

The whole sketch definitely wasn't that far off from a real episode of Inside the NBA though. Maybe there aren't baby bonnets and golf cart races, but there are Christmas trees getting knocked over and people's heads and a whole lot of nonsense. Honestly, I'm not sure any skit could do it justice. Inside the NBA is probably just funnier on its own.

I dont watch SNL anymore because most of the skits are lame, but as a sports fan-that was great job and Charles Barkley did a good job... I am rolling.....

Great skit

Did his critics expect Barkley to be in skits about sewing or world peace?  This was a pretty funny skit, and Charles executed it well.

As for SNL, it's always much better in retrospect than it is in realtime.  They rotate artists, not allowing anyone to be there more than seven years.  Usually, when someone emerges as a star, he or she leaves and makes a few movies or does a few tours.  Then, when they become huge, people suddenly like every skit that person ever did, even when they didn't like it watching it the first time.

As an example, most people thought "Wayne's World" was stupid the first time they did the skit.  Through repitition, though, audiences warmed up to it, and soon, a lot of people thought it was one of the best series' of skits ever done.  Now, Myers and Carvey are gods on the SNL foodchain.

So, when one or two of the current crowd "breaks out," rest assured that people will think their current work is a lot funnier than they do right now.

SNL Has Become the worst Hour and a Half of sketch comedy, This show is way past it's prime and get's worse and worse every year. Lorene Michaels needs to pull the plug on his production soon because it's flat awful I bet Chris Farley and John Buleshi are rolling over in there graves because Wizard's games are more entertaining then this!
