Grizzlies' Arthur out for season with Achilles

The Memphis Grizzlies are already a bit thin in terms of depth in their frontcourt and they may have suffered a big blow Sunday. According to the Commercial-Appeal, power forward Darrell Arthur left practice Sunday morning with a serious Achilles injury and the team fears he may be lost for all of the 2011-12 season.

Ken Berger of reports that Arthur is done for the year after an MRI revealed a "season-ending torn right Achilles."

Ironically, Arthur had just returned to practice after having a sore left Achilles.

Arthur was a solid backup to Zach Randolph last season and without him in the rotation, the Grizzlies will have to look to signing a free agent or maybe the D-League for depth. Because they don't even have a backup for Marc Gasol as of now.

Report: Grizzlies' Arthur suffers serious injury

Are there really people out there that feel sorry for these players because they may have to play 3 games in a row or 4 out of 5 nights???  Seriously these are pro athletes that their only job is to play sports.  I could understand if they had a 9-5 then had to play after their regular job.  They play their game and they go home or should go home and rest for the next one.  If they go out and party thats thier choice.  I'm tired of hearing all the players complain.  Garnett you are making 15-20 million shut up and play 4 nights or oh my god 5 nights and put in a full work week.  Sorry there are no 3 day work weeks this season you can go back to that next year.  Do I understand they are playing at the highest level in the world yes but please its their job and their only thing to do.  How about the high school days.  When you had to go to school all day or the some that did go to school all day then had practice or a game every monday through friday.  This isn't football, yea some banging goes on down low but if you can't handle it then retire don't cry about it.  There are more grueling jobs out there that guys do it 5 or 6 days a week and don't even make a tenth of what they make.

I'm not saying the owners are saints in what happened over everything but hearing mulit millionaires cry over playing so many games in such a short time period makes me sick.

I am not sure exactly what Stern has to do with this.....This was in PRACTICE.

Would you have liked it better if Stern said no training camp/practices and just went straight to regular season games?

You make it seem like they are playing so much back to back to backs.

Most teams are playing 1 or 2 which is not a big deal. The way you talk make it look like they are playing 10 of those.

Maybe Stern's rushed schedule may play a role in these type of injuries? Let's see the injury count after a season of back to back to backs.

Thats horrible news for the Grizzlies, im surprized more injurys like this havnt been happening due to the short and rushed training camp, i expected alot more injurys like what happened during the recent nfl pre season and training camps.
