It tends to be forgotten that NBA players are real people with real lives and real families. They may have million dollar contracts, but they also have kids to feed and bills to pay. I know a lot of people never want to hear that type of stuff, but it is true.
For example, Delonte West tweeted this late Tuesday:

Thirteen dependents. Dang. West though wasn't kidding around. Earlier in the lockout he went to work at a moving company to make extra money. He applied at Home Depot and a few other places because evidently, he really needs money.
But again, this lockout is about to start hitting players. Tuesday was officially the first day 95 percent of the league missed a paycheck and with that, players are going to start feeling the effects of not getting paid. It's all part of the league's leverage in a lockout. It gets to withhold money, which is important.
And benefits, which are also apparently important.
