Player ratings for the popular basketball video game, NBA 2K12, continue to leak in advance of the game's Oct. 4 release.

A few weeks back, we noted that Miami Heat All-Star forward LeBron James was poised to lead the league in overall ranking with a 98, topping Los Angeles Lakers All-Star guard Kobe Bryant, who checked in at 94.

Unofficially, just nine current NBA players check in with ratings at or above "90".  All nine, including James and Bryant,  were All-Stars last season. The others: Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade, Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard, New Orleans Hornets guard Chris Paul, Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant, Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose, New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony and New Jersey Nets guard Deron Williams

A number of teams from the past are also included in the game. The 1992-1993 Chicago Bulls are included, led by Michael Jordan, who is rated a 99, and Scottie Pippen, who is rated a 90. Jordan also receives a 99 on the 1997-1998 iteration of the Bulls while he scores just a 92 on the 1985-1986 team.

An expanded list of player rankings has been uploaded to YouTube by user NBA2K12stuff. More rankings have been revealed or compiled by PastaPadre.com and Examiner.com.

Here's a compiled list of ratings for some star players from those sources. Remember: this year's rookie class is not included in the game.

NBA 2K12 overall player ratings unveiled

Kevin Love rated an 81?! That's ubsurd.  He's a better defender/rebounder than Dirk, and just as good a scorer!  he should be atleast an 90.

Dirk an 85? This is so wrong on so many levels. I understand that Dirk may not be the best defender in the world but that is why he shouldn't be an 98 like Lebron who can dominate the game in all areas. With that said Dirk is still in the same class of player as Lebron. Dirk has avg 25 pts and 10 reb his entire playoff career. Show the guy some respect!!! At the least he should be a 93/94 and the reason he shouldn't be a 98 is because he isnt a great defender. If Dirk is an 85 then Carmelo and Durant should be as well. There too are players that are not great defenders but put the ball in the basketball at a world class level, as does Dirk. To have Josh Smith rated as high or even close to Dirk should raise a red flag to these people. Look at the players around the range of an 85 overall and its laughable the class EA has put Dirk in. I guess they missed every Dallas Mavericks game this postseason. SMH!! Come on EA.

dude, chris paul is the best overall point guard in the nba. he can score either driving or shooting up to 3pt range), is always a league leader in assists and steals and has a high free throw percentage. no other point guard can do all of these things at once

Dirk belongs as a 90 overall. Definately the best at his position. I'd say either top 5 or 6. Amare isn't that great? He doesn't play defense.

Gerald Wallace is vastly over-rated. I expected big things from the Blazers. Than disappointed in the playoffs.

Pretty good ratings overall. Bynum is definately better than Jefferson in my opinion. Where is Ray Allen? He must be a 78 or something. At one point last season, I thought he was the best, most consistant player on the Celtics.

I figured out why I'm not a fan of these rankings. I understand that you never want to overrate players, but these are just way to conservative. Giving dirk an 85? stupid. nash only an 84. i can keep going, the point is, give players the rankings they deserve. dont underestimate them in these games, how they are and how they perform in real life should be a direct relationship for the games. think about 2k

NBA 2K12 overall player ratings unveiled

It's interesting to see how much Chris Bosh's stock has fallen in the eyes of so many people in basketball. I don't think there is any debating that overall, he had a subpar season in Miami for a first year going from a 1st option, to the 3rd. I'm not necessarily a fan of Bosh, but I think 80 seems a bit low for his rating, despite his lowered production. Put him on another team, and I think he's a better player than he's showed in a Heat jersey.

I know this is just a video game... but come on 2K, give Dirk a little more love than 85. Do you actually think Carmelo Anthony is that much better than Dirk? He may not be a 90 even sure, but give the guy some love considering he just got his first ring and this is the first video game released since it happened.
