It's a very fragile thing, these labor negotiations. So all this seemingly positive talk and solid momentum towards a deal should be met with a very tepid response. Don't get too psyched because you might just be let own horribly when it all blows up.

But right now, as Ken Berger of tweeted, it seems like both sides are interested in working earnestly towards a deal. Berger tweeted Wednesday after a five and a half hour bargaining sessions, "Full [Billy] Hunter quote, when asked if enough time to reach deal: 'I think there is. I think there clearly is. There's more than enough time.'"

And then there's NBA Players Association vice president Roger Mason Jr. tweeting this:

What's it mean? Was that supposed to be a direct message? An accidental butt-tweet? What does the "How u" part mean? Is it a prediction? Is that something he took from today's negotiations? Does that mean a full season or half of one? So many questions but if you're looking for a sign, maybe that's it.

But... wouldn't you know it, Mason then deleted the tweet and put up an obligatory, "Someone just hacked my account. I did not say its looking like a season!" I don't know what to believe anymore. Stop playing with my emotions @MoneyMase.

Everyone claims hacking when a tweet goes wrong, but I can't help but wonder if Mason actually tweeted it and then got a quick call from Billy Hunter or Derek Fisher saying, "HEY! NOT SO FAST THERE MONEY MASE!" and then started Twitter damage control which begins with a "Someone hacked my account!" tweet. Or again, a direct message gone public message.

Whatever the case, I can feel the momentum, real or not. I'm choosing to believe in a season. Don't bring me down Money Mase.

That's what alll these dumbass celebrities and athletes do now a days, get on there twitter and to a lesser extent facebook accounts, spew off some verbal diarahea then claim someone hacked there profile. In most cases it is them saying these things, but with everyone on these sites via mobile, wouldn't be hard to grab someones phone and start some f***ery!!!!

I try to be an optimistic person, I say they get a deal done.... because like someone said earlier in another article, they think there losing money now..wait and see how much they lose if there is no season, no concessions, no parking, no ticket nothing. And imagine all the spin off businesses that are going to lose money, get a deal done guys!!!

I think it's pretty clear that he meant that to be a text message. Note the "via txt" at the bottom of the screen shot. The "how u" absolutely sounds like he is asking someone personally "how are you?"
The joke, though, is that he claims to say he was hacked. Don't know why anyone would want to hack Roger Mason Jr of all athletes/celebrities, but I guess strager things have happened. I just highly doubt that excuse.

I think it's going to take a bit of time. It can't be too easy to get a deal or each side will have a hard time taking the other seriously in future negotiations. At least the bulk of the pre-season has to be scrapped. If nothing is scrapped, why would the players take the owners' threats or claimed needs seriously in future. Conversely, if the players give back more without losing a dollar of pay, the owners are going to be certain to push a lot harder next time. For both sides, the deal will have to look like pulling teeth before the proper environment is created for the final compromises on the big issue - splitting the revenue pie.
