All the way back in Oct. 2010, Miami Heat forward LeBron James used a pair of "South Beach" Nike sneakers to help him get acquainted with his new city and new fans in South Florida. The shoes featured Art Deco stylings and a color scheme based on the colors of the NFL's Miami Dolphins and MLB's Florida Marlins.
We can't be sure when James and the Heat will be back for their second run through the NBA season together, but that hasn't stopped Nike from releasing another Miami-themed James sneaker. The new shoe -- the LeBron 8 V/2 Low, dubbed the "Miami Nights" -- again reflects South Florida styling, with turquoise, blue and pinkish-red colors plus some black dots that give a bit of a stucco effect.
NiceKicks.com provides a few more details.
Showing Flamingo-like hues and a color splatter only describable as “vivid,” the “Miami Night” LeBron 8 V2 Low is like few shoes that have come before it. Of course, this one possesses all of the performance characteristics we’ve come to expect from Bron Bron’s shoes, including Max Air cushioning and a Flywire-supported upper. It’s that upper that makes this one special though, thanks to its Glass Blue, Solar Red, black and white coloring.WSVN.com reports that the shoes first went on sale during an exclusive event in South Florida.
The shoes can only be found at one store: Niketown at Sunset Place in South Miami. The cost of the shoes: $160. Shoe lovers and James' fans lined up Thursday to get a wristband that guaranteed them a pair of the limited edition shoes. Others lined up Friday morning and waited till they went on sale, just after noon. Here's a look at the LeBron 8 V/2 Low Nike sneakers, better known as the "Miami Nights."
