Tuesday morning, we noted a report that a California man is accusing Los Angeles Lakers All-Star guard Kobe Bryant of injuring his wrist during a dispute involving a cell phone at a church near San Diego.

Later Tuesday, ESPN.com reported that area police are looking into the matter.
"Something occurred," a San Diego police department spokesman told ESPN, "and (Bryant) was involved. The investigation is ongoing. We're following up on the allegations and trying to sort it out."

Police spokesman Detective Gary Hassen told The Associated Press on Tuesday that detectives were told they won't be able to talk to the alleged victim until Aug. 24.

Finally, TMZ.com reported Tuesday night that a denial from Bryant has come in fast and strong.
Kobe's attorney Mark Campbell says the Los Angeles Lakers superstar is "aware of the baseless allegations asserted against him, and is prepared to defend against them fully."

San Diego police tell TMZ they want to question Hagos about the alleged incident before they decide if they need to talk to Kobe.
Bryant, apparently unmoved by the allegations, appeared in public on Tuesday night to play at the famed Drew League, where he mingled with fans and signed autographs prior to tip-off.

At first glance, it appears that any potential lawsuit concerning this incident is headed the same place as a team with Derek Fisher and Steve Blake at point guard: nowhere.

Report: Kobe Bryant denies church fight

There should be some places you can go without being a celebrity or a sports star. There are some places you go when you are there for other reasons other than being a Laker or representing the NBA.

There SHOULD be but there isn't, definitely not for celebrities as popular as Kobe is.  Like I said before it's not fair but it is what it is and that's never going to change so celebrities better get used to it.

Once Kobe found out there were no photos of himself and wife he returned the phone to the guy.

Who the hell is Kobe to take somebody elses property away from him?

There should be some places you can go without being a celebrity or a sports star. There are some places you go when you are there for other reasons other than being a Laker or representing the NBA.

In my opinion church should be one of those places. If you and your wife decide to attend church together to worship then that is a private thing you would want to do, not be worried about some idiot taking a picture of you and your wife with a phone camera.

Who is right or wrong? That is not for me to say, however, had I been Kobe attending church with my wife, I certainly would not want my picture taken by someone in the congregation.

What is the motive of the individual bringing a cell phone into the church to begin with? It appears to me that one would certainly turn off the cell phone or at least place it on vibration. Certainly it should not be held up or shown as if you were doing something with it or talking to some one.

Of course it is yours, therefore technically you may do whatever you desire, but it would be strange to see someone answering or using a cell phone for any purpose in church.

Once Kobe found out there were no photos of himself and wife he returned the phone to the guy.

Do they make you swallow a stupid pill to be a Lakers fan, because I am completely perplexed at how none of you can seem to grasp the very very very very simple idea that no matter who you are, and no matter how classless the other party is, getting your picture taken in a public place does not give you the right to forcibly confiscate someone else's property.

Great post man.  I can't believe how many people on these boards think it's illegal for a guy to take a picture of a celebrity, it's unreal how stupid some people on these boards are.  Kobe Bryant is one of the top 5 most popular male athletes in the world and has been for a very very long time.  Does he think this is the first time a stranger took a picture of him or something?  What's the big deal anyway?  Who is he to think it's his God given right to take people's property away from them?

Enough...the guy just went to church and he tought somebody tried to take a picture of him...inside the church.  Kobe Bryant is the victim in this case.
I know.  Maybe we should just shoot the guy in the head for hassling Kobe....what's that, we aren't in the Soviet Union?  Oh, well then maybe Kobe shouldn't have done that, especially beacuse it seems possible that the guy wasn't even doing what Kobe thought he was doing! Forget the wrist, it doesn't even matter.  Kobe.  Cannot.  Do.  That.

What's that you say, it was in a church?  Interesting, but it doesn't matter.  He might have been taking pictures?  Still not impressing me or the police.  If Kobe wants anonimity in public places he can wear a paper bag with eyeholes.

Stupid? Yes...on both sides. Don't money grub if you didn't actually get hurt. And if you're Kobe, keep your hands off other peoples stuff. You have no right, despite what you think they are doing, to touch another persons property and that goes for anyone. It's a stupid story for an injury that probably isn't real, BUT it should have never happened in the first place. What did we all learn in kindregarten? Keep Your hands to yourself children.

Hey, if he can get out of that sexual assault charge a few years back, he surely can get out of this silly wrist- bending charge!

Must be a really slow day at the SDPD.  They are investigating a "situation" where somebody might have injured his wrist?  How about reassigning a few of these guys to traffic patrol instead and make them more useful.

Says a Lakers fan that's in Kobe's pants......  but no, not even Kobe Bryant is allowed to take somebody elses property away from them. Who the hell does Kobe think he is anyway?
