Lithuanian team Zalgiris is putting together quite the little backcourt. After signing Sonny Weems most recently of the Raptors earlier in the summer, Zalgiris added a pretty substantial name (potentially, pending lockout) Monday: Denver guard Ty Lawson.

The team tweeted on its account: "NBA starting PG joins us! BC Zalgiris signed Ty Lawson from Denver Nuggets till the end of NBA lockout!!!"

Zalgiris is one of Europe's top Euroleague teams having won the Lithuanian title last season. (If you're not impressed, consider that Lithuania produces a lot of NBA-level talent.) The team is owned by newly inducted Hall of Famer Arvydas Sabonis.

According to Draft Express, Lawson is getting a "seven-figure deal with an NBA out."

Obviously it's just another lockout provisional contract in which (hopefully) Lawson might not even play a second for them. And by "seven-figure deal" that just means it could be for a total of $1 million. Could be for $5 million. It's probably not going to be for a whole lot but Lawson is looking to get paid and he's going to at least get a little.

I was with you until you said the kidnapping thing THE TRUTH, a strong possiblity lol, really? where are your facts to support that thoery and to say foreign players hate Americans is insane, where is your proof with that, if anything obviously the players losing there jobs to these NBA players are upset, but that would be the case if they lost their job to a Canadian, American, Russian etc etc NBA player, they don't give a shit about the nationality of the player that took their job, just that they lost it to someone who doesn't really want it anyway

There is no way that the foreign teams can support enough NBA players to make a huge difference during the lockout. Most of the big name players talking about playing abroad are just talking. Going overseas to play for a couple of months up to a season would be a huge mistake for the superstars. Howard, Williams, Kobe and several more would be plain stupid to risk an injury to play over there. They have to be smarter than to do such a ridiculous act. Besides the injury possibility, the kidnapping threat is a strong possibility. So many foreign players hate Americans, to include NBA players, it would be a stupid mistake to play there. This could be part of the Players bargaining ploy. but nothing is etched in stone. Weems, Lawson, and similar players may be making a logical choice, but not so for the Superstars. So let the games begin, fools will be fools and the wise will be wiser for staying in the good ole USA.
