Report: Mike Brown a Lakers coaching candidate

You want a darkhorse, surprise coaching candidate for the Lakers open position? Well here you go.

According to ESPN.com, former Cavaliers coach Mike Brown is set to interview "soon" for the vacant Laker position. Brown would be the fourth name to pop up in the Laker coaching search along with former Rockets coach Rick Adleman, ex-Clipper coach Mike Dunleavy (seriously) and Laker assistant Brian Shaw.

Brown has been mentioned for the Indiana Pacers and Golden State Warriors jobs as well, reportedly being the leader for the Warrior position.

Of course this would be an interesting twist as Brown coached LeBron James in Cleveland, taking the Cavs to The Finals in 2007 and winning Coach of the Year in 2009. He was dismissed in 2010 after Cleveland's flameout loss to the Celtics in the second-round.

The dynamic of bringing in LeBron's old coach to take over Kobe's Lakers is pretty crazy. Brown was often criticized for his offensive scheme which mostly was LeBron doing stuff against five defenders. I can only picture Kobe losing his stuff over a couple stagnant, dumb offensive possessions in the fourth quarter.

Brown though was always pretty popular with his players and he's a good defensive coach. I'd guess his chances at the Laker job are low, but he's a guy that's worth an interview.

i think they should have a Veteran Coach otherwise koby will do what ever he want
like what to jackson too much mistake but still inside and they said jackson he's a
coach yeah right he took the job from collins during the bulls ready to go champs
i understand he got 11 champs but, the very smart coach moved to lakers because
the greaters Jordan retired. and ofcouse he has chance to lakers with shaq 3 mvp's
and now retiring again because lakers are not doing good.

what a smart coach in the world i am giving you challenge if you really a good
coach try the non playoff team and will see happen from there

Brown is the BEST defensive coach in the game, with Kobe coaching the offense, this should work out great for the Lakers.

All qualified candidates for the interview.  Lakers have a win now team and Adleman would probably be the best fit.  If not Adleman that the unproven head coach in Shaw would be a reach.  Than they should consider making an offer to Cleveland to pursue Byron Scott.

Buss' clan is worse than McCourt by himself.....LM(FAT)AO.  Hire Brian Shaw who is reduced to twisting in the wind and call it a day!!!!
