LeBron James apologizes for the way "The Decision" went down.

Posted by Matt Moore

In his post-game comments following the Heat's 97-87 win over the Celtics to win their series 4-1, LeBron James apologized for the way "The Decision" want down.  James told reporters that he was sorry for how the one-hour special occurred, but felt that teaming up with Bosh and Wade in Miami was necessary to get past the Celtics. As's Ken Berger reports, James told reporters:
"I knew I had to go through Boston at some point. I went through a lot signing to be here and the way it panned out. I apologize for the way it happened, but I knew that this opportunity was once in a lifetime."
James will continue to receive condemnation over the event, for his attitude, approach, and behavior. But after the game, he spoke candidly to TNT's Craig Sager about how much of a demon the Celtics represented to him:
"First of all thanks to the Boston Celtics, coach Rivers, that coaching staff, those player, they make you fight for everything. You can never take a second off. "
James was tortured by the Celtics, who swooped in after his 2007 Finals run and took over the Eastern Conference. Their own version of the Big 3 raised the bar for rosters, leaving James frustrated with how his Cavaliers team compared. Right or wrong, James felt compelled to raise the talent around to him to a higher level. He did so, and on Tuesday night, that decision, "The Decision" proved to be the right one for his career agenda.

How he did it was wrong. It was always wrong, and somewhere inside him, James knew that, despite refusing to apologize for it in Cleveland earlier this year. It may seem easy to apologize now that he's made the Conference Finals and gotten past the Celtics, but for someone who has made so many P.R. gaffes over the last year, it's a step in the right direction, this humilty. This is the LeBron James Reclamation Project now. It started with beating the Celitcs in Miami.  It will only truly end with a championship ring.

Did you actually watch the play?  You are not very observant, and you evidently don't listen.

Both players have even acknowledged that Rondo was the one who pulled Wade down.  That is why no one retaliated.  It was a freak accident that was initiated and carried out by Rondo.

Please pay attention to the games when you comment.  Injuries happen, and it sucks.  I would have loved to see the Celtics pull off another win, or at least make the series more interesting.  That didn't happen, and that is part of the game.

Also wishing harm on anyone is the lowest of the low.  When players are healthy we get the best, when they are hurt we get a weak product.  You are not a good person, and if you have children I hope they never read anything you write.

Well, LaBron....from someone that is sick and tired of hearing about your everyday minutia (sp), it IS finally a step in the right direction

Apologizing now?  Wow what and arrogant and dumb move.  He would have been better served just to stick to his guns.  His braintrust is killing him on the PR circuit.  Why bring it up now when everyone (outside of Cleveland) has forgotten about it.  Dumb dumb dumb move.

No offense intended here, but without Shaq clogging the lane, Wade would never have been as successful. Wade deserves all his accolades, but would never have won without Shaq.

Shaq was not "The Guy", but neither was Pippen for Jordan.  Players always need someone else.  Just ask Allen Iverson.

You know it is ok to be hurt when someone leaves, but to explode with such hatered is just wrong.  What did Labron really do that hundreds of other athletes have done.  You contradict yourself here.  If Labron is not that good or wanted in Cleveland, then why do you care?  If he isn't good enough to win on his own, why do you care?

Oh, by the way no one has ever won on their own!!!  Can't happen.  Labron had crap in Cleveland, and the team still won over 60 games.  That tells me Labron did all he could for Cleveland.. He was a free agent and had the right to choose.  If you got offered a better job, would you not take it.

Oh, and another fun fact.  Labron has done more for Cleveland on and off the court than probably anyone else in the whole state!  No one cared about Cleveland Basketball until he came along, and now they are still in the news because of Labron.

Please let the hatred go.  He helped you, and then moved on.  He had the right, and honestly to stay in Cleveland would have been more selfish!  Then he would only be thinking about himself, because everybody knows the Cavaliers were doing nothing to help him out.

Dallas is the only team left that can give the Heat a run for their money.  I think in a seven game series there is no team that will stand up to the Heat.  They just get too worn out trying to contain Wade and James.  It would be a great series though.  The Heat would get home court against them, and it would definitely come down to the wire.

LeBron James apologizes for "The Decision"

I have hardly watched any NBA basketball this year because I am about sick of the league.  Who wants to really watch a league where there are a handful of good teams, and the rest of the league is garbage?  I think its partially the NBA's fault for allowing the players to dictate where and with who they want to play.  There should be franchise tags like in the NFL.  People will say that its the players choice and other bs, but when it comes down to it the NBA is a business.  If they have failing teams like the Hornets who have a superstar like Chris Paul on their roster, what is going to happen to these other teams in smaller markets?  If these teams never have a shot to compete because the superstars of the league are teaming up with each other in bigger market cities, it will ruin the integrity of the league in my opinion.  Its one thing to be bad for awhile because of bad drafts, injuries, attitudes, coaching etc  but when you cant attract a free agaent because you dont have one or two other marquee players on your roster something is wrong with that picture.  The best you can really hope for is to draft someone and lock him into a contract before he becomes a big time superstar.  I mean come on you think DWade, Bosh, and LeBron didn't have talks about teaming up before the decision?  And this season Carmelo getting his way and being traded to New York.  Now of course the talk will start centering next year on CP3 and Dwight Howard and who they are going to team up with.  It was nice to see Kevin Durant re-sign with Oklahoma City.
And I can see the point with Cleveland Cavs fans being upset with LeBron leaving.  He made a promise to bring a championship to northern Ohio.  He did have his hand in a lot of decisions the Cavaliers made.  Plus his entourage was treated very well by Dan Gilbert and the Cavalier organization.  They definitely deserved better then " The Decision".  I just think the fans just hoped for the best because he was a hometown kid too.  It was his decision and he is gone and its time to move on.  LeBron will win a championship if not multiple ones with the Miami Heat.  But there is no way that winning a title with them will ever feel like it would of felt like if he had broken through and won a championship with the Cavaliers.  He can say different when it happens, but it wont be the truth...

First of all, what's with all the Vitamin Water in the background?!  I've heard of product placement advertising, but that's a little overboard.  Secondly, I can't wait until the Bulls knock this clown out of the playoffs, I love how he's acting like beating the Celtics in the 2nd round was his main goal and the biggest obstacle.  Newsflash, the Bulls are the 1 seed, not the Celtics, and they're about to send Lebron to the golf course.
