LeBron James apologizes for the way "The Decision" went down.

Posted by Matt Moore

In his post-game comments following the Heat's 97-87 win over the Celtics to win their series 4-1, LeBron James apologized for the way "The Decision" want down.  James told reporters that he was sorry for how the one-hour special occurred, but felt that teaming up with Bosh and Wade in Miami was necessary to get past the Celtics. As CBSSports.com's Ken Berger reports, James told reporters:
"I knew I had to go through Boston at some point. I went through a lot signing to be here and the way it panned out. I apologize for the way it happened, but I knew that this opportunity was once in a lifetime."
James will continue to receive condemnation over the event, for his attitude, approach, and behavior. But after the game, he spoke candidly to TNT's Craig Sager about how much of a demon the Celtics represented to him:
"First of all thanks to the Boston Celtics, coach Rivers, that coaching staff, those player, they make you fight for everything. You can never take a second off. "
James was tortured by the Celtics, who swooped in after his 2007 Finals run and took over the Eastern Conference. Their own version of the Big 3 raised the bar for rosters, leaving James frustrated with how his Cavaliers team compared. Right or wrong, James felt compelled to raise the talent around to him to a higher level. He did so, and on Tuesday night, that decision, "The Decision" proved to be the right one for his career agenda.

How he did it was wrong. It was always wrong, and somewhere inside him, James knew that, despite refusing to apologize for it in Cleveland earlier this year. It may seem easy to apologize now that he's made the Conference Finals and gotten past the Celtics, but for someone who has made so many P.R. gaffes over the last year, it's a step in the right direction, this humilty. This is the LeBron James Reclamation Project now. It started with beating the Celitcs in Miami.  It will only truly end with a championship ring.

"Someone will give Wade and possibly you a dose of the medicine he dished out."

This comment is what I was referring to.  You wish injury on someone you are just as bad as the "thugs" you claim to despise.  It is downright nasty to wish injury on anyone for any reason, especially when it relates to sports (a game).  Yes there are dirty players, and there are dirty plays.  That does not change the facts that the injury was a freak accident.

Go back and watch the video you claim to have seen...

Wade is on the bottom of the two players, Rondos right hand is in Wade's gut, Wade's arms are down.  Then as he is falling he puts his arm up around Rondo to help break his own fall.  Did you expect him to just get thrown down, and not try to catch himself.  Wade's leg goes back because he is falling.  The video is clear.  I do not believe that Rondo was malicious in his attempt, but instead trying to make a play on the ball.  When they fell, which can happen to anyone, Rondo put his arm in a bad spot.  It got bent backwards.  It sucks, but once again an accident on both players part.  Just because you don't like Lebron or Wade or whaterver your issue is, please don't pass blame, and call it "thuggery".  As you said, I don't know you, ans my guess is you don't know Wade.  Do you think he sits around and plans out his next thug mission?  Is there a club he can join in order to mastermind this thuggery?

Now on to nicer things, I hope you are not as bad a person as your post would imply.  I assume you are just another brainwashed individual caught up by all the media criticizing Lebron for the "Decision" and just joined the Heat hate wagon.  Maybe you should just give up on basketball.  Afterall, you say you can't stand it.

Thanks for listening,

LeBron James apologizes for "The Decision"

Yes I did watch the play.  And it was 100% not Rondo that caused the damage.  He was slammed to the floor.  Rondo trying to pull down Wade is not the same thing as being slammed to the floor like Wade did to Rondo.  Good grief this is why the NBA is such an ugly league.  People will excuse anything.  And there was no retaliation because Rivers told them not to do it because they couldn't afford to lose another player to an ejection.  You need to get the goo out of your head and really watch what's going on.  Wade, who is far bigger than Rondo, slammed Rondo to the floor deliberately.  That in no way is equal to trying to pull someone down from below, which I didn't see at all.  Rondo was falling backward into Wade.  Wade did his best to hurt him badly and he did just that.  That's the NBA.  Thug basketball.  Do I really need to point out all the instances of thuggery in the league?  Wake up.  That's why I rarely watch pro basketball.  I wouldn't have seen that play if it wasn't for YouTube.  I've seen enough of the thug league.

And before you go harranging me about what I know about basketball you might want to consider you don't know a thing about me.  I'll laugh my rear off if you say that because I know what I've done and you don't.  If you think players don't play dirty when millions are on the line you're living in La La Land.  Heck they play dirty when nothing is on the line.

LeBron James apologizes for "The Decision"

Even if Lebron wins 5 titles in a row it was still a poor decision for the league. I am not saying this becuse I am a cavs fan or because I am bitter. I say this because the NBA lacks attendance and it lacks ratings and many franchises are not making money. The success Miami is having will just lead to declining attendance in Cleveland in Toronto next season and beyond. Orlando and New Orleans are probably next to decline  when D.Howard and C.Paul leave to copy the big 3. All of the stars will team up to compete with the Heat and the Celtics. Soon there will be about 10 good teams and the league can just eliminate basketball from all of the other cities.

Basketball was more fun to watch when the star players competed against each other and didnt team up.  I mean really. The Pacers and 76ers made the playoffs this year. What a waste. The difference in talent between Miami and Philly made for a joke of a playoff series.

The NBA just has a terrible product for fans overall -  although I must say the Memphis vs OKC series has been entertaining. Too bad their time slot gets bumped to playing until 1-2am.

LeBron James apologizes for "The Decision"

Are you kidding me Copej84?  Chicago was trying to get Wade and James.  Yeah they built a team with young talent because Wade and James turned them down.

here's the deal: Labron Goes to Chicago with Wade and the Bulls are where they are now.  Cleveland still hates him, and Chicago is exstatic.

It would just be that everyone hated Chicago instead.

Speaking of that why does everyone hate Miami so much.  If your team could do it wouldn't you want them too?  I mean seriously people.  Hate Lebron if you want, but what did Miami do that the 20+ teams wouldn't have done also?
