Oprah Winfrey could bump East finals schedule

The Eastern Conference finals schedule might be altered because of television talk show host Oprah Winfrey. Posted by Ben Golliver. oprah-bulls

A potential Eastern Conference finals match-up between the Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat would be a star-studded affair, but it can't take place until a much bigger star has her say.

The Miami Herald reports that LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and NBA MVP Derrick Rose could have the start of their Eastern Conference finals match-up bumped up by billionaire television talk show host Oprah Winfrey, who has Chicago's United Center booked for one of her final episodes.
The NBA informed a few involved parties before Tuesday’s Bulls game that if the Heat and Chicago win their series in six games or fewer, Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals would need to be moved from Monday to Sunday night because the United Center likely is unavailable Monday to allow Oprah Winfrey’s crew to set up for the taping of one of her final shows. If the Heat or Bulls series go seven games, Game 1 of the Eastern finals would be Wednesday.
Winfrey, a Chicago icon, has been on air for 25 years according to ChicagoBusiness.com, and she is expected to tape in front of 21,000 fans. The show will air on May 23 and May 24.
The good news is that Rose is already very, very humble -- you might have heard -- so he should take this scheduling snafu in stride. As for how the Heat will react? Your guess is as good as mine.

I'm sensing a massive synergystic marketing opportunity here. Odds that hometown stars Rose and/or Wade will make an appearance on Oprah's farewell show? Pretty good.

Oprah Winfrey could bump East finals schedule

name one place she has helped in the usa
ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... Chicago.  Employs a bunch of people, flies people here, showcases the city, stumped for the Olympics, etc.  If it is anyone's fault it is the UC.  If you book a hotel is it your responsibility to do research to make sure the hotel didn;t double book?  No, it is the hotel's responsibility.  And the UC is half owned by the Bulls, so it is not like they didn't know it was a possibility.  My guess is they took the money for the sellout and figured bumping the game a day or so was an acceptable risk.  Bulls would play Sunday instead of Monday.  What is the BFD?

if its a travesty the fault lies with United Center management, not Oprah.  it is ridiculous to fault her for trying to do her thing assuming she just went to them with a  random date and they didn't say "sorry but we will have to bump you back a week or two, there is a very realistic chance of a Bulls playoff series going on that could conflict with that date."   I somehow seriously doubt she set out to intentionally sabotage the Bulls scheduling A little foresight by the stadium folks would have gone a long way.

I think we're making a mountain out of a molehill here, but even if we decide oprah should be run out of town on a pole, (for delaying the Eastern conf. finals by all of 2 days when someone rented her the venue for tha day)...maybe at least wait and see what happens?..If Atlanta flips the switch on their jekyll and hyde act tommorow and forces a game 7, this all turns moot anyway.

Someone could bump East finals schedule

Jeesh - why a Rodman Jersey?
Like he needed her support  so he could come out of his "shell"

Just write to your TV provider and tell them you don't want the OWN channel.
Tell them you are going shopping until you find a company without it.
If you have kids in the house, tell the provider to bag the MTV channels as well.
Who really needs all these channels to be entertained and stay informed?

Go out for some exercise of your OWN.

And you're surprised?

This loudmouth is finally going off the air, thank god.  As one of her last pestering, I'm greater than god, moments, she's going to mess up her own home team's playoff schedule.

This is the type of woman who gives and makes sure that EVERYONE KNOWS what a fabulous person she is for donating, and doesn't give to simply BE a fabulous person. Oprah, if you want to truly be a benefactor of humanity, try taking a look at the GATES FOUNDATION!  You're a fake.

And this type of crap shows the true colors of your character, you selfish wench.

The United Center was built by Jordan... for basketball.  If I had a gazillion dollars... I would have donated more money myself.  Give away cars and soap and weightloss crap.  I gave 100 bucks out of a 500 dollar paycheck once...thats 20%.  Think she gives 20%?  Just sayin.  It's all relative.
