Phil Jackson makes joke about New Orleans water

We're sure Phil didn't mean it that way. He couldn't have, because meaning it that way would mean a reckless insensitivity to an area ravaged by one of the worst natural disasters in United States history.  There have always been problems in the water supply in a city with the complex and relatively ancient physical infrastructure it struggles with, on top of the delta environment. So this is almost definitely not as bad as it sounds.

From the Los Angeles Daily News
Jackson has made no secret of his dislike for New Orleans, and he couldnt keep his feelings to himself when asked Friday if he might return to the Crescent City to enjoy its delights after he retires from coaching at seasons end.
"I refuse to comment on the grounds that I might incriminate myself," he said. Pause.
"Just dont drink the water," he added.

I mean, Katrina was six whole years ago. So, really, why would anyone think of the place where water is still a word that sends fear through the people as they continue to try and recover from one of the worst experiences in American history when Phil says that?

People are so sensitive... mostly because that's what happens when your entire city gets flooded when the levees overflow after a Category 3 Hurricane hits it. And hey, Jackson was only telling reporters in the second most media-heavy market in the United States. It's a wonder it even got out. The city of New Orleans, it should note, is not amused

Maybe the next time Phil's looking for another addition to his book club, he can check this one out .

Phil Jackson makes joke about New Orleans water

You know how you can't joke about certain things, because it's just not funny....well We New Orleanians do not find his comments amusing. Here's an idea, let me come over to your house with my garden hose and fill up your home with 7 feel of water. Then I will take a couple of full port-a-lets and dump the contents in the water. Then, for kicks, let me dump 2 loads of mud, feces, dead people waste, and dead rats and fish into the mix. We will let that sit for 21 days. Oh, I forgot to mention that you will have lost everything you have ever owned and you have no idea where your family is because none of the cell phones with a 504 or 985 area codes are working. Then, and only then, we will ask you again how you feel about this prick's comments! You have NO IDEA what this city has been through. We have clawed our way back. This city is filled with people who want to be here. We all had a choice to make. So NO ONE talks trash about my city and gets away with it! Capiche?

Phil Jackson makes joke about New Orleans water

I cannot believe this Jackass! I live in New Orleans and lost my home to Katrina with 7 feet of water in my house. It took us 2 years to get back into our house. We were touched by the majority of people around the country who were pulling for New Orleans. I think that his comments about my city are so crewl. I bet that he is the type of person who would kick an innocent homeless person as he walked by. Well, he has plenty of homeless in LA, a city with more gangs than any other city in the country. You and Kobe are a perect match for each other you inconsiderate prick! Go ahead and push down an old lady crossing the street while you're at it! And just watch how the people of New Orleans come to YOUR city's aid when you have your 9.5 magnitute earthquake. I hope that I am the one to hand you a blanket because you have lost your home you SOB!

When's the last time you ever heard this asked of a pregnant woman: "How's the fetus?"

Bravo to Phil! I support anything that sticks it in the eye of today's Oprahist sensitivities. Please notice, however, that this sensitivity is a sham. After all, very few are offended that surgical hitmen have legally crushed the skulls and sucked out the brains of tens of millions of infants since 1973.
You confused fetus with infant - you aren't a doctor are you?  I just saw you ranting against pornography on another page as it degrades daughters, and you know you defgrade them by attempting to control their bodies.  And now you cheer an anti-Christian sentiment.  Make up your mind Freak.

what a jerk. He's proven it before and he does again. Talk about having lost touch with the real world. Arrogance from the faux-zen dildo. Yeah, it figures.

Quit being a bunch of sensitive babies.  Get over it, if you had a Mic in your face every night you'd make a morally questionable comment or two yourself.
