Kobe Bryant draws 15th T, 1 shy of suspension

Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant drew his 15th technical foul of the season, one shy of a mandated suspension. Posted by Ben Golliver.

During the second quarter of a Sunday night game against Oklahoma City, Los Angeles Lakers All-Star guard Kobe Bryant picked up a technical foul for getting into a scrap with Thunder center Kendrick Perkins. This would usually be a routine deal, except the technical is Bryant's 15th of the season, meaning he will need to serve a one-game suspension if he draws another technical foul before the Lakers conclude the regular season.

Bryant and Perkins drew double technicals after Bryant attempted to set a pick on Perkins near the free throw line with the Thunder leading, 56-44. Bryant held his ground and Perkins didn't release his grasp either. After Lakers big man Pau Gasol put up a jumper, Bryant and Perkisn remained locked up, and Perkins eventually wrapped his arms around Bryant's head. The two finally shoved each other and an official stepped in between to intervene, assessing the double technicals.

Here's a look at the play.

Following their game against the Thunder, Bryant and the Lakers have two games left on their schedule: Tuesday against the San Antonio Spurs and Wednesday at the Sacramento Kings. Should Bryant pick up his 16th technical against the Spurs, he would need to sit out against the Kings. Should he pick up his 16th technical against the Kings, in the final game of the regular season, Bryant would serve his suspension at the beginning of the 2011-2012 regular season, per league rules. Once the playoffs start, the slate is wiped clean.

Entering Sunday night's game against the Thunder, the Lakers held a .5 game lead over the Dallas Mavericks for the Western Conference's No. 2 seed.

Bryant drew his 14th technical foul against the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night, for slamming the ball down to the floor in frustration.

I am not gonna argue with you on the pick,,,, watch it again and see where his hands start on Perk.  I just think its great that around here no one is scared of the Lakers now and really considering the last years events including the playoffs and our new players we respect them but dont fear them,,, if anything there are other teams that we have worse matchups against.  I like our team against their team especially considering the ages and the new experiance we gained.  We have nothing but time to get better and they are counting th edays until the clck strikes midnight and it all turns into a pumpkin again.  The Lakers need to be concerned about being the 2nd team in LA in the near future, second to the Clippers,, only time will tell, and every day they just get older.  Dont forget, Jerry West isnt around to Trade you the next Gasol and the Zen master is going fishing,,, possibly earlier than he thinks this year.

No dude, you are so wrong. Didnt you get your ass handed to you in the very first quarter last time we played you? The lakers are old and slow but your Spurs aren't? Last game played in LA San Antonio got a lucky tip in at the buzzer and got a 1 point win and you call that a whooping? Good luck having the best record. Go ask what happened to Loserveland the last 2 seasons.

Kobe is always yelling at players ... referrees .... that girl in colorado he raped ...ooops Tech overturned ... he was excused of having that relationship.  Anyways .. Lakers are going down they have only have Kobe and the league office ...  other than that its obvious they are slow and old. 15 Technical Fouls is a Joke. Why act that way?? Privledged?? ... The Thunder are improved but they are the 3rd or 4th best team in the West. San Antonio gets no love and they have 4 RINGS right??? The Best Record Right?? Good chemistry !! and no one facing possible suspension for their behavior. The "East is the Least" the crown goes to winner of the Spurs v Lakers. Chicago is like OKC too young ... Miami is too mental and lacking pieces ... Celts are missing something aka see video above. Remember the Forum in LA ... Last game played there the Spurs whooped LA. on the way to the Trophy ... Look for Pop to retire Phillip and LA can welcome in Brian Shaw and a work stoppage

If you watch the 4th qtr of that game, it got really chippy. I bet they called it that way to settle eveyone down. The Lakers were getting frustrated.

Man I'll bet the Celtics brass feel sick when they see that replay. Unless Shaq gets healthy they have no one as intense as Perkins to count on, thus they are getting rolled over.

A double T is reasonable. They both contributed to the tie up and both of them mouthed afterwards. And you can't just keep T'ing up the stronger guy because the other player loses ground. For those who don't think Kobe should be T'ed up, the deciding moment is when he keeps pushing forward and yelling after they are split up.

If you let that kind of thing go, you are asking for a brawl.

Kobe Bryant draws 15th T, 1 shy of suspension

You watched the tape several times  sure you did if you had you would see Kobe started wiith his hands low Perkins pulls the arms up then puts Kobe in a head lock. Enjoy your new thug Perkins if the thunder get by the Spurs the Lakers will be ready yo can believe that. The Thunder are young and hungry true but put your bets on the old savy of the vets. Wisdom and experience always beats youth and zeal. Maybe next yr Thunder maybe next yr

that was sort of a ridiculous post. Of Course the NBA is about money. No one has ever said that. If you want the best players to sit out then watch college or highschool. No offense  but it sounds like you should pick a different sport to watch.  Kobe clearly was being held and should never have gotten a T. No one wants to get hurt and no one wants to sit games.  The rules are fine. However the worst thing you said was about a west coast bias.  There is a Superstar bias and that is league wide. You must have a march madness hangover... get a grip.

King David Stern has decreed Thou Shalt Not Give Kobe Another Technical That May Get Him Suspended And Detract from Our TV Ratings. So shall it be said, so shall it be done...

Rescind both techs and move on. I don't like Kobe but thats bush league. Just call it a double foul and move on if you have to call something. I've seen church league games get more intense then that.
