LeBron James says Derrick Rose is MVP

LeBron James endorses Derrick Rose for MVP for obvious, and not so obvious reasons.
Posted by Matt Moore

In what has become a fairly vicious MVP debate between supporters of Derrick Rose and Dwight Howard, Rose has had several clear advantages, one of them being "endorsements." If we admit that the MVP is a popularity contest, which of course it is, endorsements from notable people in the game are as powerful as they are in politics. On Wednesday, Rose picked up another one, from the defending MVP, LeBron James.

James told reporters prior to the Heat's game against the Wizards that Derrick Rose is his MVP.

The endorsement isn't surprising based on multiple factors. One, James is just smart enough to know not to push himself for the award. Second, Rose is a friend, part of the Calipari string of pro point guards that James has gotten to know over the years. And third, Rose isn't Dwight Howard, who James has developed a rivalry with based on playoff series and the Magic being a divisional opponent. Howard has been public in his criticism of the Heat and the attention paid. That probably tied into LeBron's decision to publicly back Rose.

But at the end of it, Rose is just more James' style of player.  A perimeter whirling dervish of offensive firepower in a Bulls uniform. Doesn't take much knowledge of James' history to know that fits in strongly with his own preferences.

Rose now has endorsements from the former MVP, Michael Jordan, and Stan Van Gundy, among others. There's been little evidence that the voters will break rank with the greats of the game to endorse Howard, no matter how much evidence may exist to make it a competitive race. Rose is quite simply an incredible player with a great story and all the momentum.

LeBron James says Derrick Rose is MVP

you forgot the most important stats
Bulls up 2.5 games for the #1 seed in the East.
Not to mention, you take Rose off the Bulls and they are the #6 or #7 seed.
you take Lebron off the Heat and they are still the #5 or #4 seed with Wade and Bosh.

Sorry buddy, it's not always about the numbers, but how he is VALUABLE to the teamand to the league.

Rose wins it, no doubt.
Quit being a homer

LeBron James says Derrick Rose is MVP

This MVP race is a joke. Are you serious with Rose? Lebron DOMINATES Rose. Lebron has the following over Rose:

+1.5 PPG
+3.3 RPG
+6% FG%
+0.6 SPG
+0.4 BPG
-0.9 APG

Is 0.9 assists worth all of those other stats? Rose is an above average passer, but he can't shoot the 3 and he's a mediocre defender. All he can really do is drive to the rim, which he often does haphazardly. I hate Lebron with a passion but I'm not blinded by that like the rest of the sports world seems to be. It's Lebron vs Dwight. Nobody else should be in the discussion.

Pwease don't Poo Poo Wittle Webwon James

Lebron James was a no show for the Heat's opening introductions in Cleveland.
Why?
Because he had to go potty.
No, seriously, that was his reason -- Lebron James was not present so he could poo poo.
Straining? But of course we know better. We know Wittle Webwon is a wee bit too sensitive to be poo pooed by his old fans, so he poo pooed by staying away from them.
How can we compare this guy to the game's greats? The players who thrived on adversity; who preferred the boos. What happened to the Reggie Millers who let Spike Lee's taunts fuel him into super-stardom? To the Larry Birds who challenged himself to earn road scoring titles in every arena? To the Michael Jordans who made Madison Square Garden his home? Can we compare this guy tothem?
No. These trio of stars in Miami are coddled, spoiled and sensitive (like the Rupaul that Shaq compared Chris Bosh to). We should have known this experiment would bust when we learned their motivations. Wittle Webwon, who folds under pressure, longed for those High School days when he ran up and down the court beating teams at will, so he teamed up with D. Wade to re-live them. He didn't want the challenge of beating the best to earn his championship, he wanted to celebrate it before the season started.
He wants his championship cookies handed to him, and when he spills then slips on his milk in the process, we can't boo poor Wittle Webwon James, we need to bandage those boo boos then replace his milk by smashing our breasts into his mouth so he can suckle. But do children ever learn from such coddling?
No, spoiled brats like Wittle Webwon don't deserve championships; they throw tantrums in the bathroom while their daddies, Kobe Bryant, work hard to earn them.

LeBron James says Derrick Rose is MVP

Hands down it has to go to Derrick Rose. Everything this kid has done for the Bulls this season, by keeping them in the playoff hunt and one of the top teams in the east without Boozer and Noah most of the season. Put any other pointguard in that position without a surrounding cast like Rose, there is no way their team is in the hunt. Rose as the speed of Westbrook with less turn overs, the strength of Derron Williams, he doesn't turn the ball over, and he is so smart for his age. And when looking at the numbers this season, Rose and Kobe's numbers are almost identical.

Easy vote.... Rose 2011 MVP
