Sorry Bison, I may be an NBA fan, but I don't know the owners of every team.

I think ANY type of contraction would not include the Clippers, first of all it's the # 2 media market in the country, they have a beautiful building they share with the Lakers and I'm sure the staff at the Staples Center is more than fine with double the revenue coming in, less days the building is empty.
Next, as much as a bully as David Stern is picking a fight like that with Donald Sterling would just give him headaches and on top of that the other woners in the league would have to pay Sterling the value of the Clippers  - valued at about 305 million according to Forbes ** (see footnote)
It would be a disaster all around and just bad for the league, cities that could be contracted: Memphis, New Orleans, Toronto (though I don't see Stern giving up on that because it would dent his "basketball is a world sport" mantra he's been banging for so long), Charlotte - though with Jordan in place there Stern would have to find a landing place for him - Chicago with Reinsdorf perhaps? Michael as a minority owner, Minnesota or Milwaukee maybe those I'm not so sure about but they are candidates.
Next you then have to look at are there cities where a team could be relocated to where they would make mroe money, be more stable and avoid contraction ie: Seattle who should have NEVER lost their team - I say that as someone who lives here in the N.W. but who grew up in Boston as a C's fan, the Sonics fans should have never lost their team.
I had a former Co worker who's from Southern California tell me that if the Clippers moved to Anaheim they would have sell outs every night and the fans of Orange County would embrace them, not sure about that but it is intriguing though something Sterling has rejected doing, could a new owner be ok with it? Perhaps but really if anything Stern just needs to make sure he gets a strong ownership group together or whispers in the right ear of someone who can put it together make Sterling an incredible offer that he can't refuse and urge Sterling to take the deal the money and wish him adieu THEN maybe they can stabilize the franchise and perhaps entertain a move to Anaheim.

First of all you need to get over yourself and your team not everyone is "out to get the Lakers" or Dr. Buss.
Like it or not Dr. Buss DID figure in VERY prominently to Sterling buying the team and relocating it to L.A. those are irrefutable FACTS!
True Dr. Buss isn't responsible for the bonehead decisions that Sterling has made and yes I do believe that the author of the article was making the comment about lost revenue in jest even you acknowledge that but in no way should you ASSUME that the author has some sort of Ax to grind against Dr. Buss.
At no point did it say "Dr. Buss is directly responsible for all the Clippers misfortunates and Clipper fans should be up in arms against him" those words were never said, hinted, suggested or insinuated but somehow you read into a benign comment based upon actual facts and blow it up, again get over yourself and your team the league does not revolved aorund the Lakers.

If the league is looking at bringing up contraction in the NBA talks, this would be a great opportunity to do it. The players might not object to contraction so much if it means getting Donald Sterling out of the league. If the accusations of racism, of bringing women into the locker room while players are showering and making comments such as "look at those beautiful black bodies" are true, then I'm sure they have become common knowledge among players around the league. They might agree to getting rid of that team, especially if the league turns around and moves another team -- say Toronto or Minnesota -- to LA.

And I just don't get the testimony that he didn't know who Elgin Baylor was. Did he not look at the man's resume?

My reading comprehension is fine. Regardless of whether Dr. Buss influenced Sterling to purchase the Clippers, whatever Sterling has done since has nothing to do with Dr. Buss. For the author to suggest, whether in jest or not, that a tax should be placed on Dr. Buss is ridiculous. Dr. Buss has had absolutely no control over what decisions Sterling has made since the purchase. That's why it's shoddy journalism. The author brought up an irrelevant point only for the reason to take a shot at Dr. Buss.

So does that mean Sterling would have hired anyone who worked at a mail order company to run his professional basketball team?  Super Awesome.  Somewhere in California there is a Judge having a drink in a bar surrounded by lawyers having one hell of a laugh.

No he isn't, when you take into account all the gregious offenses commited by Sterling both within his basketball operation and in his personal dealings which have brought shame on the franchise and the league it is impossible to say that any owner is worse.

Actually it was Dr. Buss who indirectly led Sterling to buying the Clippers when they were in San Diego.
The two had done a real estate deal a few years before hand where Sterling bought some apartment buildings from Dr. Buss so that Dr. Buss could buy out the remaining shares in the Kings & Lakers from Jack Kent Cooke.
Then when the Clippers were struggling Dr. Buss suggested to Sterling that he buy the team which he did.
So was Dr. Buss directly responsible for Sterling buying the Clippers - No but we also can't definitively say that Sterling wouldn't had thought about buying the Clippers without Dr. Buss making the suggestion.
No one is trying to disaparage Dr. Buss, the facts are the facts just because you don't like them doesn't make them untrue.

Let's see. You hire a person to make the most important decisions regarding your franchise. The man that will be making trades, drafting college players and signing free agents. And you don't do a background check or have someone prepare a little paper on each of your candidates? And if you are a basketball fan of Sterlings age, how did you not know who Baylor is? Kind of blows my mind that a rich person that is able to buy a sports team of any sport, would probably buy one in his favorite sport and he would not know one of the best players of his era, a Hall of Fame player on one of the most publicised teams.
Kind of shows the ineptness that he has exhibited throughout his ownership or reign of terror, whatever you wish to call it.
