It's a question NBA fans have been asking at bars, around water coolers, in live chats, in comment sections - basically everywhere is what I'm trying to say. Who's better: Kobe Bryant or LeBron James?

And to take that even further as a way to try and settle it, people wonder who would win in a classic game of one-on-one. Everyone has their opinion on both matters. Even Kobe himself does. The good people from Hoopsfix asked and guess who he answered?

Transcribed, Kobe said, "I'd win, I'd win. That's what I do. One-on-one is, that's easy for me, you know. Playing one-on-one is how I grew up playing. It's like, my thing. LeBron is more like a Magic Johnson, he's a great passer and plays an all-around game. At the core of me, I'm a one-on-one player. I'd do that in my sleep."

Well then, debate settled I guess. Now of course someone has to ask LeBron first thing next week and then someone will have to start asking other NBA players their opinion. It's just the way things work.

I do find it a little odd how serious Kobe was with his answer. At first I thought he was kind of being coy and funny with his response. But he was totally confident and serious about it. And hey, when you're Kobe Freaking Bryant and one of the top guards ever, you can be as confident/cocky/arrogant/serious as you want.

Would he beat LeBron one-on-one? My on-the-spot answer is no, because how in the heck could Kobe guard him with no help? For that matter, how could anyone guard LeBron one-on-one with no help? But then again, Kobe is a one-of-a-kind competitor that just doesn't seem to lose whatever the situation. So if I were handicapping this match, I'd say push. Though LeBron just seems to have the upper hand.

(But how about that for an All-Star Weekend event, Mr. Stern? A nice one-on-one tournament to settle this all. Wade vs. Durant. LeBron vs. Kobe. Paul vs. Nash. Like who's not watching that? )

Kobe may think he ended the debate with his no nonsense answer in London but really, he only just started it.

this tough and thats no lie. either way this is very close, james is a better team player because of his passing, kobe is one of the best one and one players ever, that said, at this time in these guys lives i lean towards james, hes bigger stronger and just as fast, also his body does not have all kobes aches and pains, one last thing is shooting %, kobes shot comes and goes more then james does, either way any night of the week a different winner is possible, i think james would just win atleast 51 out of a 100

::Shaking My Head::

This interview was all in good fun...

However, just because LeBron is hands down a better passer than Kobe, does not mean he isn't a better scorer/defender/one-on-one-player as well...

Kobe would easily struggle to defend LeBron James.  LeBron could probably just jump over him with his athleticism.  That would be a site to see.  Some company should pay millions to have a televised one-on-one game between the two.  Just say you're donating a lot of money to charity in the process, then maybe it'll go down.  The only way Kobe wins is if he gets very hot with his fade-away jumper and he gives LeBron a cushion to shoot, and LeBron goes could.  Don't see how Kobe could stop LeBron from going to the hole...

There's one difference is when Kobe isn't playing well he can pretty much will his team to a victory and still be a factor. When LeBron does not play he goes in the tank and take his teammates with him.

I doubt very seriously if Lebron would have went through the playoffs with a bum knee, bad back, and broken finger. Oh yeah his elbow was hurting I guess that's a valid excuse, but if you mention choking. How can you have a team win 65 games during the season, but can't advance deep in the playoffs. Remember they were the favorites until the playoff started.

Please Cahall get off Kobe's D i c k he didn't have 16 rebs in game 7. But I guess you need smoking mirrors in light of the truth!

He choked in the closeout against the C's, yeah he had a few rebounds but he was siting under the rim 8 ft off rondo for the defensive boards and grabbing half the bricks he shot on the offensive boards. 6 for 24 in a closeout game? and who can forget the 10 for 29 in the pivitol game 3. Hell he didn't shoot 50% in any game. Lebron shot over 50% in all but 2 games and flirted with a triple double (if he didn't have one) in every game, against the same team! Fact be told Kobe only had one good qrt in the whole series.

Ron Artest close the Phoenix series after Kobe shot a airball!

Kobe was terrible against the Thunder, That series also won by his teamates.

As for the 6 last second shots. 5 of those teams were under .500 when they played the Lakers, and he was single covered (by a smaller man) or left wide open on every shot. Bucks (6'3 bench warmer Charlie Bell) Kings (nobody, he pushed off), Heat (6'4 D-Wade, and even Kobe said it was Luck), Celtics (6'5 no defense playing Ray Allen), Raptors (who cares!), Grizzles (who care's!)

He only hit one game winner in the playoffs that I can remember, against the Suns, then he gave up a 3 to 1 series lead to get bounced out of the playoff for the 3rd straight yr in the first round. Proving once again that he isn't the man.

The Lakers made Kobe (they had a 53-29 record and loaded roster before he got there)!

Lebron made the Cavs (they had a 17-65 record and a buch of bums before her got there)

But somehow after Shaq left Kobe couldn't to beat Lebron! Kobe couldn't even beat Lebron or anybody else until they pulled off that loopsided trade. Meanwhile Lebron was taking the worst starting 5 in history to the finals!

Lebron will never go to the lottery no matter who the coach is!! Lebron will never get stuck in the first round of the playoffs no matter who's on his team!!!

He finally has some help Lets all watch and see the outcome!!

The Lakers are by far a superior franchise than cleveland will ever be, that why Lebron had to get out of there!!

What was Kobe suppose to say no I can't beat LeBron. One thing I can say is Kobe is the only guard that I've seen that has sealed LeBron in the post and scored on him.  On paper, video, physically Lebron should win because he's younger, more athletic. But Kobe just wins.

I honestly have no idea who would win, but I'd love to find out and I really like the idea of a one-on-one tournament during the All Star weekend. Let fans vote for the 4 or 8 players they'd like to see in it. It would be a heck of a lot more entertaining than the lame slam dunk contest, which I stopped watching years ago.

I agree drop the dunk contest..every dunk pretty much has been's not going to WOW anyone anymore. It's a thing of the past that is still a 4ever part of the game, BUT..for all star weekend should be retired.  I think Celebrity B-Ball Game, HORSE, Skills Challenge, 3 Point Shootout & 1 on 1, should be the new all star would definitely pull in viewers. Better yet..dont limit 1 on 1 to just NBA players..bring on streetball legends guys from And 1 etc.  Hmm...anybody got David Stern's number?..we need to make this official

The offense ran through Kobe because he is a point guard on that Olympic team dumbass.  LeBron played power forward.  You don't run an offense through your power forward.  Learn some basketball idiot!
